Baker City ORV Park wheeling report
« on: Oct 13, 2008, 08:14:20 AM »
Well I just found my new favorite wheeling spot that isn't more than 150 miles away.  My friend Dean who is in my club went down to Baker City Or. a few weeks back and was telling me about this ORV park that had some pretty nasty trails.  So of course I was interested to go check it out but didn't honestly expect much.  From the way he explained it I thought it was just a trail up a canyon.  I didn't realize it was a actual ORV park.

So after testing my buggy down in Browns camp at TSF 2 weeks ago I've been itching to go out wheeling again.  The initial plan was to just go somewhere around home here in Walla Walla but after thinking about how boring it is on the roads unless there is snow here we decided to load up and head down to Baker City to go check out this place.  I was just going to trailer the buggy down on my single trailer and through my friends 39" IROK's in the bed and he was going to drive down on his 31's since he only had dual cases and 4.10 gears.  But since one of my friends was in town and barrowing my gooseneck trailer I called him up and asked him if he wanted to go.  I told him that I not only had a seat for him to ride it but that he could barrow my "new" project 85 beater truck and wheel it if he would pull the trailer down with my buddies 80 on 39" IROK's.

It didn't take much convincing and so we got everything all loaded up and headed down to Baker City.  Like I said before, I wasn't sure what to expect but I'm convinced now that I'm going to be heading back down there and checking out all the trails.

The most recent truck I built for a friend.  Some of you might have seen it in my Toyota-Holic build.  He wouldn't had a lot more fun it he had lockers but just dual cases made such a difference and he did really good.  He will get it all locked up when he can get some cash together for some Longfields but until this he's just having fun.

Here's my buddy who towed the double trailer down wheeling the budget rig.  Sorry some of these are fuzzy. I think they were taken on a cell phone.  I of course forgot my camera but thankfully we had a couple along.

Some of you might know I've had a lot of transmission problems with my buggy and now I can say that it works like a charm.  I love being able to just hop in and wheel without wondering when its going to start slipping, and drive like crap.  I also just upgraded to aluminum side panels and hopefully will be getting my hood, grill and cowl on shortly.

In all it was a really fun trip and unfotunatly we only had a few hours of daylight before we were night wheeling.  I wouldn't have minded doing more night wheeling but my rock lights weren't working for some reason and so it becomes a bit more difficult when you can't see.  The plan is to head down there again within the next few weeks and have more of a weekend there.

All loaded up ready to go home.
