oil pressure
« on: Feb 28, 2007, 08:01:18 PM »
I just rebuilt my 22re and also installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge. I also installed a turbo oil pump. When cold at idle it makes around 70 psi and when it warms up its around 20-30 psi at idle. I was just wondering if this is in "standard" ranges, and what kind of oil pressure other people are getting.

so what do you guys think about my 20-30 psi when it is warm? Is this too low? If so, what could be causing this and will it hurt anything? thx

You are fine. Toyota manual lists 4.3 psi as minimum pressure at warm idle. 36-71 psi at 3000 rpm.
Just for your info, a lot of "turbo" oil pumps sold by parts chains are actually a regular 22re pump. I have always bought the turbo pump from Toyota for this reason.
