Do you have any pictures of the adapter before it went into the rig? What about a close up of the adapter?
Are the bellhousings removable on R-series trannies?

Good job for doing something different. Without people thinking of new ideas, this "sport" wouldn't evolve.

He made it, or someone made it for him. As far as I know they are not being sold by anyone yet. Budbuilt is currently the only one who is going to sell the adapters I think.

I like the Idea! I wonder if i can get that SM420 I have botled up infront of the NP465?
That would be 7.05 x 6.55 x 1.96 x 4.88 = 441.68:1. :hammerhead: :dancing: :adoration:  :booya:

On my "big project" I am doing dual R150s with a custom adapter plate and 23sp gear drive t-case. But heres the kicker. I am running 60/70 and 6.17 gears and also I am going to invest in an offshore gearset with a 4.0 tcase.

do that math....
5.15 x 3.83 x 4.0 x 6.17= 487:1  :yesnod:

if you want to get crazy think 'bout this
5.15 x 5.15 x 5.1 x 6.17=845:1! :yikes:
why not run a R151 with the 5.15 gears  and triple cases

5.15 x 4.70 x 4.70 x 4.70 x 6.17=3299.03:1

Why not 4cases for that matter. I think it would still be shorter, and you could still run 4.88's or something like that for street use , then you would be
 :turtle: 5.15 x 4.7 x 4.7 x 4.7 x 2.28 x 4.88 = 5949.16 :hammerhead: :turtle2:

With that much reduction, you could wheel with a 5 horse Briggs :driving:

Anyone care to contribute any more to this thread?  The more information the better, I don't have the trannys yet so I'm looking for any info I can.

Here's something I can't get out of my mind...  :hammerhead:

There is a Forklift transmission that runs a ford style T18 gear box with no reverse, instead it has a box bolted to the front of it that has a 12:1 reduction and reverse, so you have 8 forward and 8 reverse gears.  :driving: It bolts up to a standard Ford bellhousing. Hard to find as it is an old design.

I wonder if there is any other manufacture that does the same thing.

I know "The" best gear guy for commercial transmissions in the San Joaquin Valley. He told me about the Ford thing. But he doesn't do much with Foreign makes.

its all about thinkin outside the box.. i love it :bigthumbs:  besides its a little more cost effective for me..  for 150 bucks i'll be at 190:1  rather than spend 400 on a adapter   and have to do a ton more work to only get me 104:1  and have more gear selection.   dont get me wrong  marlin makes a nice product  but i dont have the kind of money to buy an adapter and drivelines..

with dual trannies i believe i can get a stock rear  driveline to work  and i can make my own front shaft.  so its a bit of a win win situation..   besides its just plain cool.
