Dual T-cases
« on: Mar 17, 2006, 03:21:25 PM »
I am in the process of a building a '91 x-cab 22re for the trail and while I have it gutted and torn apart I want to prep it for dual t-cases.  According to the info dual t-cases are 6.5" longer.  Does this vary at all between rigs, or can I go ahead and have new drivelines made, i.e., shorten the rear by 6.5" and lengthen the front by 6.5".  Also does the new shifter set 6.5" back as well?

I would wait to have your drive lines cut.. until the truck is done so you can take actual measurements.  lift or sas it will change your measurements, also the degree at  witch you flange on your t-case is also a factor.

Good advice!!!! Wait til it's in. There are a lot of factors that will effect the final length.

I figured the front should wait, but the rear is a 2 pc. is there that much varience that I should wait to do that one as well.

What about the shifter, I am building a custom interior and I would prefer po cut the hole out now while the cab is empty.  Does the second shifter set 6.5" back from the first center-to-center?

Don't waste your money on the two piece shaft, have them make up a once piece.  You'll be happier.

I have a 1pc. in my '90, I just figured since I have two 2 pc. d-lines sitting here, I would modify them.  What I was wanting to do was to have one line mod'd so I could drive the rig home.  I will be using a buddy's shop when I install the dual cases next month, it wouldn't be a problem if he didn't live 90 minutes away.

I never had a problem with the 2 pc. on the trail with the '90, it was just cheaper to have a one piece built when the center bearing went on the 2 pc.  What is the problem with running the 2 pc. and dual cases?

the 2 pc on a lifted and dual cased truck  doesnt give you enough droop of the shaft between tcase and pinion,   you REALLY  want a 1 pc rear shaft
