I don't know if you would get much cooling effect. The water in the rad is going to be pretty hot. It works for the auto trans because converters generate a ton of heat. Enough of a difference to cool the trans a little.

If you think an oil cooler will help you, I would go with a standard type that uses air across it. Outside air is much cooler than water in the cooling system. The bigger the difference in temp, the more cooling effect you will get. Most add on trans coolers are this type for the same reason.

79coyotefrg, I like your idea about the V6 rad. Is it a bolt in fit with no mods? I'm getting ready to get a new rad for my 88 22RE pickup.
