Only happens when its cold, idling, and warming up in the first 30 seconds or so...
Sounds like a somewhat deep knock, taps maybe 3-4 times, goes away, maybe does it again, then not till the next morning. Been pretty cold here FWIW, and the Taco lives outside (too cold to let it up on the bed).
Timing chain? :shudder:
Rod bearings? :conf:


 
Nuttin Honey? :yesnod:
151K miles, appears to have been well cared-for its whole life, not even off roaded.
