I thought my 3rz ran awesome with no cat. No 02s.. and just the exhaust lead pipe.. after installing cat and the rest of piping I noticed a significant decrease in power
I'd stay away from running without 02s. No way to get closed-loop operation.. Likely impacts fuel economy under cruise (part throttle) conditions.
Modern high-flow cats shouldn't create much backpressure.
