Ok here goes my rant. Came down from Oregon to run Fordyce last weekend and got jacked. We went in through Eagle Lakes on friday night and came out Cisco Grove on sunday. When I got back to my tow rig someone had broke the window out of my canopy and broke my rear slider to get in.(BTW I left the canopy unlocked so people could see I had nothing of value in there, they broke the window and punched the screen anyways) They stole all my clothes, shoes, some cd's, phone charger, and some pop(F'in dirtbags) :shake: So I got to wear my nasty Wheelin clothes for my 10 hr. drive home. I had hidden all stuff of value from sight thinking people wouldn't have any reason to break in if there was nothing to steal. There were two other trucks that got the same treatment with busted out windows next to mine is this staging area known for this problem? But all in all I had a great time on the trail with some good friends, can't wait till the next trip!

thats sucks.  and the weird thing was my truck was parked right next to your and they didn't even touch mine.  i had heard of people getting stuff jacked before but i have never seen it or had it done when i was there.

*FFC*

Hmmm... all that :pokinit: have you washed your truck yet? How bout fingerprints?

do you have a stereo in your tow rig.  Thats what I'd be scared about

gotrocks

oh and at least you can be happy that they didn't break a door window.  That would suck having wind blow through the truck all the way back home.

It rained pretty much the whole way home so unless they are somewhere on the interior, I kinda doubt they would be able to find them now.

Well I probably shouldn't leave my tuner in my truck.  The only reason I do is incase some reason I might need to retune it while on a trip it won't be a problem.  I guess its a good thing when I have my lockable toolbox in for trips though. It at least gives me a little peace of mind

Had a friend park his tow rig on the street right before you make the right hand turn into the staging area a few years back get his rig broken into but I dont think they stole anything.

I guess this place is getting nutorious for thieves

That really pisses me off, thats one thing that really gets under my skin. Self respect for other peoples property.. maybe just because i've had so much stuff stolen from me.

Reguardless I think something needs to be done, the question is.. WHAT?  though...

Your obviously not going to hear an alarm going off that far into the trail and there's no way to secure your vehicle in a safe location.

This makes me want to take my rig and tow rig up there just to kick back behind the bathrooms w/ my shotgun waiting for some punk ass theive to stop by for a peek and in return get an ass full of lead shot.

Somebody should go in with a big group and have someone camp out in the aera to watch out for this so the thieves can be cought.

Just a thought.

Sorry about your truck dude  This is becoming more and more of a problem over the last few years. Both Rubicon and Fordyce. My opinion is, there are antiaccess people out there militant enough to pul off this bs. Also, because of the internet, people in general know more. Just following a thread about a trip can lead them right to your truck. They know when and exactly where to look for it.

Very Sad.

Yeah, then you would be missing what they took out of you rig and your "hidden" deer cameras  :joke:

Not really trying to make light of the situation, it's really shitty that this stuff happens. But I would say best bet is to let Fish and Game in on whats happening. The Game Wardens I know up in Tehama County take this stuff to heart.

Sorry again bro, but thanks for posting up so people are aware of whats going on.

No big deal, It could have been alot worse atleast my truck was still there! Yea I called the cops and reported it, he was on the scene within an hour, but I was already on my way back to Oregon. As for the other two trucks I don't know if he checked for prints or anything.

I second what cruzila said. It's a real shame that people only care about themselves.

It's sad that you can't leave your vehicle somewhere over the weekend and have it broke into. Makes it harder and harder to walk away from your tow rig and wonder how much of it will be there when you get back.

I've always had problems parking a truck and walking away.  I've walked back out of the woods before when I heard a vehicle approach but not leave.  Always kinda sketches me out :shudder:  And yes, it usually does seem like it's locals.

They've had some of the same problems with rigs left at trailheads in the alps before too.

Damn dude,Sorry to hear that. That sucks!!!!.At least you're looking at it in a positive way,it could've been alot worse, but still doesen't make it right.Hope this doesen't change the way you feel about ALL Cali Trails and still come down to The Hammers in April, looking forward to wheelin' with you,and there you hit the trails and come back to your tow rig,and there is allways someone around keeping an eye out.
