New Intake system. I retired the Alien Boob :boobs: air filter. That intake was designed with the longest runner length possible to aid my formerly naturally aspirated engine have good power at Crawling RPM speeds. Well, with the supercharger, I surely do not care about any turbulence anymore. Nothing I can do to control that now, so might as well just make the intake as short as possible.

And supercharger + larger tires = needs better brakes. That is a 3rd gen master cylinder (89-95) and late model Hilux calipers, I think 93-95 with the extra cooling vents. Both taken from the wrecking yard on half-off day. Saved me some $$ boy I'll tell ya what, I'll tell ya what.....

My only problem right now is that I have no place to put my air temp sensor. My boobie filter :boobs: had a longer neck so I could install the temp sensor, but this one does not..

As for the Pivot Blocks, Dave called me last week! I had not spoke to him since before I left for Japan back in June.

So I asked him if he could believe what happened to my pivots, and he said "what do you mean?"

So I proceeded telling him how I had broke it and that I called but you weren't there so I left a msg with one of his employees, but apparently that msg never made it back to Dave.

So he went online here and checked out my post with the pictures and he was like "woahhhhhhh"

He was actually glad to see that I had discovered a weak link, and he told me that he would work on a stronger design and have it out to be before the round up!!

So looks like I'll be Pivoting again out at the 'Con!! SA-WEEEEEEEET!!!!!

The tires are 37x13.50x15 and they are about 36 1/3" tall.

They have a max press. of 30psi, and when Bevin mounted them for me last Friday while I was inside the office working, he didn't know that so I drove home at 35psi. That's not really such a bad thing I am sure, but you can see from the picture that only the center of the treads were wearing on the road:

So when I got home I aired them down to 25psi in the front and 20psi in the rear. They are still only wearing on that center ridge, but that center ridge is a really good thing for wheeling.

I've got a lot more action photos that I will upload later, and I will give a full report later on how well they do for me.

The only problem for a daily driver is that they are not radial, they are bias ply.
But they do SO FREAK'N well offroad that I could care less.

In the rocks compared to MTRs, these are like comparing a 3 cylinder geo motor to a supercharged 3RZ. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE. And everyone here at the shop who runs IROCs likes them so much that they are going to try them once their IROCs wear out, which shouldn't be too long.

Everyone who is attending the Round Up will get to see these tires first hand as I will be there.

I wheeled with a guy from my area who has those but in a 40" on his fullsize chevy and he likes them A LOT.  We mostly just have snow wheeling and even in that big truck he really likes how well they hook up even in the snow at 2 psi.

How long has he been running them? My truck is a lot lighter, so I am hoping they will last me at least 1 year. But I am still doing 85 and 90 mph on the freeway, yes, seriously, at at only 1psi too. I probably shouldn't be doing that, I don't even know what they are rated for? And that's even faster than before, because now my speedometer does not read as high as it used to with the 35s, but I am still cruising with traffic at 85mph everywhere I go on the freeway.

he had them for about 4 months when I saw them and he doesn't drive it as a DD like you do.  80 at 1psi sounds really dangerous if you ask me.  I know those tires are stiff but I wouldn't put my life on the line at 85+ with only 1 psi in the tires.  Do you have a rollcage??

I run 12 psi on the street and no that isn't manifold pressure. I bet you could go down to about 15 to 18 psi and be good, just watch the speed around the corners.

do you think they would mount up ok on 9" wheels? If I add beadlocks to my 8's it would make them 9" wide......... Are you beadlocked or no? I was contemplating the MTR's, then leaning toward IROKs but may need to look into these.... Can I ask what you paid for them?

thanks

No, I do not have any beadlocks, and because these tires are much taller than my 35s, I won't need to be airing down as much for more traction and smoother ride without having to worry about loosing ground clearance either. Wow, that sentence didn't come out right..

Basically, the side walls on the ROCKERs are WWAAYY stiffer than the MTRs, so I can run say 5-7 psi and there is no way I would loose a bead like I would with the MTRs at 5-7 psi. I am going to run Jose Basin this weekend and I am going to try 5psi. 5psi? I have never gone that low on my MTRs. I've done 6psi and I blew the bead TWICE on the same trip.

I really liked the ratio of using an 8" wheel on a 12.5" tire. That is a difference of 4.5". So to maintain that same ratio, I should run a 9" wheel on these 13.5" ROCKERs, but I had to settle with the 10s. I didn't want to run 8" on a 13.5" tire, it seems too narrow, and they are already rounded at the center of the tread, it would be even worse with a more narrow wheel.

Everyone here who has IROCs complain that they wear out too quick. And after they saw these ROCKERs, they are going to try some 42" ROCKERs instead of 42" IROCs on their next set of tires.

No problem about the price. The guy told me that retail was like $298 or something, per tire, and he sold them to me for $252. With tax it was $1069 out the door :thud: :outtahere:  :puke: :beerwhack:

Man, I must be the worst person at saving money. Whenever I get money saved up, its gone in the blink of an eye

I am used to the 8" rim and 12.5 cross section tire and I as well like it.

price is not as bad as I was anticipating.... thanks for the heads up as well as the info on the IROK's. I may look into them for wheeling tires and keep my 2 sets of 35's for street driving!

thanks again!

You know, I ride a 1993 Suzuki GS500E as much as possible, mainly because its fun and it only costs $7 a week for gas compared to $40 a week with my truck.

But I have driven my truck to work twice this week, on Monday and Yesterday, and man, I am not liking the Bias ply... The truck shakes like HELL around 30 mph. I have already balanced them, but remember it's not a matter of balancing. Bias Plys to not keep their shape like Radials, especially when its cold outside. And the temperature definitely makes a difference. In the morning the ride is very rough and bouncy and does not smoothen out until 80 MPH or so, but at lunch time in the heat, it actually smoothens out around 50 MPH.

So what I need to do is get out and wheel my rig more often. That way the amount of happiness that I will gain from wheeling with these awesome tires will cover for the amount of pain (annoyance) I get from daily driving. I am sure that the more and more I wheel it, the more happier I will be.

That is why I am going to run Jose Basin this weekend. This will be my 2nd wheeling trip in two weeks, which is really really good for me. I am usually lucky to wheel about once a month.

Get used to it Mike, that's the only thing that sucks about bias, those good ole morning flat spots.

Yeah, I will get used to it, but the ole days of running the truck over to the coast for the day in the Yota with my lady might be a thing of the past.

I have no doubt my gas mileage will drop to 15 mpg or so in the city and maybe only 17 on the highway. That's why I'm trying to ride the hog as much as possible. Just can't ignore 55 mpg and lane splitting when I've got access to it :driving:
