So this year for valentines day my wife bought me to 2'x4' sheets of 1/4" steel plate. I have some projects to finish with it, like reinforcing the front bumper I started building last summer. I need ideas of what I should build with it. Should I start plating my frame? I a thinking about linking the 4runner latter and plating would be a good idea but also it is my D.D. Any sugestions?

Don't plate with .250", that's way heavy but do, cut a pair of gussets and reinforce the front hanger.

Do you think 10ga. For plating or 3/16"? I was planning to use 4WU's kits so gussets are incorporated into the front hanger already.

use the 1/4" to gusset your rock sliders if u have them or plate the front cross member , i just made a kit from scratch like the fror from 1/4" since the stock cross member on all toyotas is very thin stuff.

I think I will take your advice and plate the front cross member. I haven't been happy with how my bumper is attached so that will fix it. I havent yet finished building my sliders so I will be using some of the plate to build some gussets for them. Keep it coming. I have a lot to use up.

make one of those. really easy to make with a drill/grinder/cut off wheel.its worth it not to have your bumper rip off your frame.

X2!

Aside from that just save it for either a bumper, or gussets. As stated 3/16 is plenty for plating the frame.
