A lift in your own garage?  I know what I want for Christmas.

It's my buddies garage, but yeah it's freaking amazing! It has ruined me.  Soon as I get my own garage that will fit a lift it will have one in it.  Don't care what it cost or what I will have to sell to fund one.

Burned in a bunch of stuff last night. Really just need to put the axle back together and hook up the breaks and she will be drivable again.  :smokin:

Boxed in the rear of the frame.

Plugged and shaved the drain plug.

Upper shock mount welded in.

Rear truss all glued in.

Just wanted to say nice build.  I have weld envy like everyone else

Did you make the 6 stud steering arm add on or was it a kit?

Thanks for the complements!

I made the steering arm mod. It was super simple and CHEAP! Just need some 1/2" flat bar and a couple grade 8 bolts.

Very nice looking axle housing.  Funny the kind of things we drool over here....  I'd put a poster of that on my wall and no one would understand but us.

Ive heard a million different opinions on welding axle truss's.  Im calling you an expert looking at that axle.  Did you make a jig to hold it?  I Usually just do about 2 inches at a time then switch to the other side then let it cool.  What is your theory?

It would take one hell of a jig to keep it from moving. I'm sure putting that much weld onto my housing tweaked it some. Enough to do anything... probably not. These aren't high mile highway rigs we are building.

I welded all stuff on my chassis at the same time so I would weld a little on the axle then go back to welding on the frame.  Took over three hours to complete the welding on the axle housing.

More forward progress today.

Got the exhaust tacked in and the axle housing hung.  Not sure if I like the exhaust yet... waiting until tomorrow to glue it all in.

I was looking at how you did the trussing on the outer ends of the axle and wondering.  U-bolts.  Aha.  Very slick.

What's funny, is we were giving him a bad time after he did all the welding on the front axle, and he didn't gusset the knuckle ball!!

But that rear axle is SEXXY!!

I also should have put some armor on the front diff.  Still might do that and truss the balls.

Been super busy and haven't posted any update pics in a while so here ya go!

Chopped the fenders about 1.5 inches.

Then I tried a horrible attempt at body work.... I am not a body fabricator!   :dunno:

I'll have to snap some pics of the final outcome... thought I had those somewhere.

Fourth of July weekend I drove to Boise to pick up this FJ80 for a buddy.  We should be chopping it up soon!

After three weeks of gathering parts and scratching my head I was able to assemble the rear with the new gears, locker, and all new bearings.  Finally got to drive it back out of the shop this weekend!

Got it washed and the stock bumper back on for now until I can gather steel for a proper bumper.

Poser shot at the neighbors house screwing around on his firewood.   :smokin:

I could revert the forum back to the normal picture loading method.... For about the last half year we've had the forum configured to only load images as they come (near) into your view. (Currently set to load images if they are within 1,300 pixels to your viewport.) The reason for this is because we have users on slower computers and/or connection speeds and threads with many large images bring their system to a halt.

It also helps power users who only need to read the first few opening posts and then move on as images far down the page aren't even called to be loaded.

I've thought about making this a user-configurable option through your profile but I haven't implemented that yet.

BigMike

The pictures are showing up now. I don't think it was a forums issue. I was having other problems with photobucket last night along with pics not showing up here.

Can you configure it so a 'space' is taken up by the picture even if it's not loaded.

I always goto 'new post'

But with pictures being loaded you never end up at the new post as pictures keep being added...........

Looks like that they are both just a plug and some math to configure the parameters.  I would go with Dakota, because they have been in the hotrod business for a long time, and actually advertise it on their site.  Superlift seems shady on theirs.  The sites I find it on, aren't even listing a price for it.  And Superlift don't even list it on their site.   :headscratch:
