I need to learn how to weld like you. That's gonna be a nice looking 4runner
if you want to feel rich, then count the things you have that money cannot buy..

Not a lot of motivation to work on things yesterday so we played around looking at ride height.  I think this thing might come out looking alright.  :shades:

Worked on the knuckles today and added a bit more reinforcement.

Setting up to tack the top plate together.

Your doing it wrong, when are you going to ditch the 3.no?

After it blows up... duh!

Which I suspect might be very soon.

He's creating more room for the lower end of the 3.4 to fit in!  Duh!!!

At least he's not texting me for a 3.4 motor.  I'm too partial to 22RE's.  They keep me from getting a speeding ticket!!

Thanks all!  It's fun to do fab work now that I don't have to do it for a living anymore.

Some updates....

Moving the steering box forward so had to build a new mount.  Decided to beef up the frame at the same time too so I'd have something solid to glue the shock hoops to.  Passenger side looks about the same minus the high spot for the steering box.

Drilled out the steering box mounting holes tonight... it pays to have the right tools sometimes... or at least know someone who does. lol

There wasn't a lot of room to drill the front hole.  Had to drill the last 3/16" by hand.

Yep, mag drill. They are pretty damn handy. Just don't un plug them until you're ready too. lol

I used one once building a house that had huge steel reinforcing plates.  Great tool.  Way better than trying to use a Hole Hog while keeping it straight.  Better than getting hit in the mouth with the Hole Hog too.

Very little progress this weekend.  Spent too much time at the Portland swap meet.   :(

Got the steering shaft extended.

Just plunged a piece of one inch so that it would press onto the old shaft and then welded up the ends.

I forgot to take pics of the steering box all mounted up today. Fail! *facepalm*

But look what's rolling again!!!

Front end still needs a lot of work... shock hoops, bump stops, the right pitman arm installed, and torque everything down.

Dude, everyone knows about the Portland swap meet. It's the biggest auto swap meet on the west coast!  There's piles and piles of rusty Chevy parts to look at!

Was actually pretty disappointed how little 4x4 parts there were. My buddy did spot a D300 for $200 that he didn't buy or let me know about. Ugh....

Nice work.  Alot of us can weld... and then there are welders.   Most of us could run one bead like that, then run 4 that don't look that good.  lol.  I like the knuckle studd mod.  Lot stronger than trail marts.

Long time, no update... been super busy the past few weeks, but managed to get a few things done.

Started chopping the back end.

All the crap I had to burn off the rear axle.

What a mess!!!  :o

A much cleaner look.

Mocking up the rear end.

Sky's "missing link" shackles got the drooooops!

Rear all mocked up and pinion angle set.  This is ride height.

Full droop.

Ride height, that's a 48" stick for reference.

Full droop again.
