22ret stuff SOLD
« on: Jan 24, 2014, 05:43:08 PM »
Ok, one more time, I have a set of turbo electronics less the AFM + intake manifold, distributor and exhaust manifold. Fresno area. $250 takes it. Local pickup, I can meet you in town, give you a chance to visit fabulous Fresno  :-\. I have pics, but email is the best way for me to send them.

Sure it'll fit........ Just needs a little brute finesse.

Turbo stuff is hard to sell.  I've tried to sell a almost complete setup, motor to harness to electronics.  Everybody wants to look at it, but they don't want to buy it.

Good luck on the sell.  Hopefully you can find somebody needing parts.

Yeah, I know no one wants these parts. I'm just hoping someone will buy them before I actually start my EFI conversion. The EFI/Turbo decision will be easier that way. Kinda torn. And as for the 3RZ conversion suggestions.... I have a longstanding relationship with the R series engines, it would be like getting a new wife(33 years).

Just sell the Turbo parts so you won't be tempted by them any longer.

Try over on http://www.22rte-trucks.com/simplemachinesforum/
Holy smokes, it's a BBS about the 22R-TE and they can't even spell "22R-TE" correct. :thud:

The first set of a Toyota engine's name is always the block family & generation, and the second set, always separated by a hyphen, is its camshaft and valve angle configuration, fuel management, aspiration type, emissions type, and more recently if it is a Hybrid or if it uses the Otto or Atkinson cycle.

They list the 22R-TE as "22RTE" which would mean that it is the 22nd generation of the RTE block, and with no other designation it would be a carbureted single cam engine. I've never heard of the RTE Toyota engine family before.

22R-TE is written as such because it is the 22nd generation of the "R" family, and it has a single cam (it lacks a 'G' [wide valve angle twin cam] or 'F' [narrow valve angle twin cam] designation) with a turbocharger (designated as 'T' ) and electronic fuel injection (designated as 'E' ).

I complain because they profess to be a forum dedicated to an engine that they can't even write correctly. Simply unbelievable.

Shouldn't have gone to that turbo truck site, now I'm thinking of keeping the turbo and selling the N/A EFI parts instead.

Yeah I hate going over there too!  I want to find a 2wd and build up the 22R-TE that's sitting under my bench.  But then I remember that I could build 3 22R-E's vs. 1 22R-TE's.

But turbo power is addictive! We, my wife and I, have a Mazdaspeed3. The car is pushing 280 horse and 300 pounds of torque. I want to get more out of it, but I don't want the tickets. Supposedly, replacing the down pipe and the exhaust will net another 20 ponies with the available tuning available with an access port. Then the fuel pump upgrade, turbo inlet pipe, yada yada. Could easily make 300 horse and 315 torque and keep some semblance of reliability. All from a 2.3 liter 4 banger. Yeah, turbo is scary to a bank account. I need to get the 22rte parts out of my garage and mind! But 200hp in a lightweight 2WD..........

Agreed!!  I keep looking at the late 70's 2wd Toy pickups, and thinking a 22R-TE would be kick ass in it.  Along with this!!  :wink2:

Turbos are addicting... My Audi a4 put down 181hp and 250tq stock on 19psi... I am in the process of a Borg warner gm3 turbo swap on it (hopefully fire her up Wednesday) and I'm pushing for 320-350 whp at 20psi.... Inspired me to buy a custom lce exhaust flange and 1 1/2" stainless 90s to build a turbo manifold.... Id like the 22rte harness and ecu but I'm leaning towards SDS or a piggyback setup..... I'd buy this if you were closer.

I reused the same harness when I swapped over to 22RE.  There was no difference in my 87.  Just intake\exhaust system, injectors, and ECM.

Texas. Im trying to understand what all you have, is it just the factory turbo?  I saw you do not have afm or mani's.  What else do you got? Im trying to piece together a turbo setup.

Shoot me an email at walinggamit@yahoo.com and I can reply with pics. There are a few pieces missing. You'll need an AFM and turbo inlet and the turbo downpipe. The turbo needs rebuilding or replacement.  But pretty much everything else but the engine. I'll have to get a weight to estimate shipping. It'll be a big heavy box, or two not so big heavy boxes.
