What kind of lift?

The only places I know that sells upgraded torsion bars is Downey offroad and Northwest offroad. I think the stock is 26mm and the ones from them is 28 mm, you can try and crank your old ones up but most people dont like the results. Why dont you just do it right the first time and do an SAS?

no you do not have to change the torsion bars when doing a lift. the stock torsion bars i believe are only 23mm, i have after market sway-a-way torsion bars that are 25mm and they are quite a bit thicker.

you only need to change the torsion bars if you want to crank them up for the extra lift, even then you dont have to it will just ride a lil better

The stock tbars will give the softest ride and the most articulation.  BJ spacers are even better.

There are a lot more threads like this and it's pretty well accepted on yotatech and 4x4wire that the only reason you need to go with aftermarket tbars is if you have a heavy winch and bumper or if you jump the truck.
