22re turbocharged leaking fuel into oil?
« on: Dec 03, 2013, 10:17:25 AM »
got a problem with my 22re on my 87 4runner, I turbocharged it and everything and came out great until I notice that fuel is leaking to my oil. I first checked the injectors and they are fine. before I turbocharged it ran great, I don't know if by not starting it for about 5 months could be factor to this problem. it was a slow project due to im in college and work. just need some advice on what I should take a look at before I start taking the head off and the intake manifold. any ideas? cause I im kinda lost right now :dunno:.

Did you just slap a turbo on an engine with 300,000+ on it or did you rebuild or replace it with a new engine? You could have some serious blow by on the rings if you didn't.

Yeah we need more info.  Cause you just can't slap a turbo on a 22RE without a building it to handle the boost.  That and the 22RE uses some different setups and parts versus the 22RET.

done it and seen it done with no problems, remember the superchargers for 22r s? most the people that ran them never did anything to the motor.  I say run it and check the blow by at the oilcap, to see if its excessive goodluck

Sounds like an injector stuck open. If thats not it and your running the 22re ecu you should be running some sort of timing retard like MSD. The turbo 22ret ecu retards the timing quite a bit over the re. The higher compression and too much timing could prove to be a bit much for the rings to handle and could have damaged them, but it would smoke and burn oil.

Just pulling them out and looking at em ain't gonna cut it. Did you have a shop that does injector work check them over? I had 2 sets of injectors and they all looked great but one wouldn't fire.

well the engine is rebuilt on has about 20,000 on it at the moment.

Means nothing if the bore was not checked for taper. If taper is out of spec it needs to be bored and oversize pistons and rings installed. If the injectors were not checked on a high pressure machine then just looking at them means nothing.
