Got the rear bolted in and the front sort of mocked up where I want it. Drivelinesbolt right up and all I need to do is weld a front hanger on and install my offset shackles which should be here tomorrow. Plumb the brakes back up and install a gm master cylinder like before.

K dub, steering box mount on the passenger side?

kdub0013

No those are the factory frame rails from the old steering. Part of all the IFS crap I think.

Looks like the swaps going fairly smooth.  That's awesome.  Rigs going to be a monster.

Looks good man digging the new project  :smokin:

Thanks and like wise on yours dude. We should hit the trail one these times.

kdub0013

Wet by wfo today got some drag link goodies. Mocked up the bump stops and getting and idea of where everything is going to line up. I am also getting a track bar together as well as got my offset shackles. Hanger will be here in a couple days. Not much left to do until she rolls on her own.

kdub0013

Question.

On the first version of the HK I did the GM master cylinder and all that while upgrading brakes. Does anyone who has the factory 3.0 with the v6 master run that with tons? If so how is the braking?

I am debating hooking all the brake lines up and seeing how it responds with all the stock v6 junk, but if it's a waste of time I would like to know that before hand.

91 ex-cab

My old extra cab use to run the factory v6 master and booster on my tons. It worked fine i had a summit racing proporioning valve in line to the rear, only time i would notice is trying to hold brakes on a steep climb it would tend to roll back a tad sometimes but id just hold the clutch to keep it in place. It bothered me enough that im going gm master on my runner this time FWIW

kdub0013

Yeah for the sake of time and money I'm gonna run it, but I'm sure I will change it out since it is a relatively cheap easy mod. Actually when I do disk brakes on the 14 bolt that will be a good time.

So got home later than usual but I did get my light bar and this thing is tittays. It was labeled as a 34" on the sale ad but it's really only 32, but who's counting. Now I will look fast and cool like all the go fast guys :flipoff2:

I pulled another ding dong move and was dialing my new welder in wondering why it was not welding worth a :pokinit:. I wasn't getting any gas. Brand new bottle everything all set and all I did was not push the nozzle all the way into the feeder :homer: so I just jumped out of bed ran down in my flip flops and boxers fixed it and threw a nice bead down just so I can sleep better, problem solved. Here was a pic from earlier of the dog :pokinit: I have to grind out now.

Moral of the story is kids make sure your tools are setup correctly.

Wainiha

Can't sleep with an unfinished project huh?  OCD.

Me too.  I'll get cleaned up 5 times and still go back and get greasy.

kdub0013

Yeah that kind of stuff bothers me. I would have lost sleep and it would have bothered me all day today at work, I have an issue  :ha_ha:

To do's:

Burn in front hanger
Modify lower bolt of shackles for 9'16 and sleeves
Drill out pitman arm 5/8 for heim
Hook up brake lines f/r
Grind a little on front calipers
Weld up bungs on draglink
Mount light bar
Modify bump stop mount on frame

Easy money now. My goal was not to have another project like my last one that took all winter. I have more plans but just doing small chunks at a time so my rig isn't down all winter. :D

kdub0013

Bling bling showed up from wfo.

I got everything set and ready to weld in. Pulled the tape 20 times checking and rechecking and everything is dead on. I need to change out all bushings because I have gaps at the sleeves. I'm also upgrading from 1/2" bolts to grade 9/16.

Got my brake lines from summit today but the adapter to the factory hard line is different than it was on my 92 pickup so need to figure that out tonight and order it.

kdub0013

Question.

So I ordered the same brake fittings from summit as I did on my last set of tons. The -3 braided line with a -3 to banjo and a -3 to 10mm female. Now on the -3 to 10mm female the cone would be pointing into the fitting and away from the factory toy hard line and this wont work.

Is fitting I need a -3 to 10mm female inverted fitting so the cone is point out towards the factory hardline?

Clear as mud?

Here is what I ordered same as before and it is a bubble flare

Here is what I think I need which is female inverted

kdub0013

Good because I ordered them

Now if someone from Marlin would return my call  :help:

kdub0013

I am a 1/4 of the way there to chromo Yukon axle shafts

Got the bender here today who needs some :pokinit: bent up besides this exo I need to do for a customer :grinpimp:

kdub0013

Well I was going to work on bending some tubez for my buddies exo but the ram gets to the point where it applies pressure to tube and stops. I have cycled and bled the thing out more times than I can count. Have to wait until Monday and need to call jd2 about it. Anyway I boxed the hanger in, drilled out the shackles for 9/16 bolts, mocked up the light bar and burned the front hanger onto the frame. I also cut out a bunch of card board templates for gussets at the hanger and frame plates.

Oh also cut the drag link down and welded the bungs in.

Apparently I lost an I in the hippie

You'd be super popular with the locals here running that sticker.

Got everything plumbed back in. Re ran the assist lines and wrapped them with rubber hose on areas where rubbing might occur. Leafs are bolted in and ready to go. Need to mount the bumps and as soon as my brake fittings for the front are here I'll be done. If I can get my tires and wheels from my buddy soon this thing will be rolling. I hope it will fit in the garage
If it doesn't the exo gets cut off and ill do the in cab this winter.

91 ex-cab

Cant wait to see this thing sitting looks real good :beerchug:

I dont think that bungee cord limit strap on your driver side is gonna last very long  :gap:

kdub0013

Ah where's the faith it's totally gonna work  :gap
Got the light bar relocated temporarily until I redo the cage and bumper. The diff studs are in for the spring perch. Brake lines hooked up all I'm waiting on now is wiring up the light bar permanently and my tires. In the mean time I'll fill the brake and steering fluid back up and bleed it all so it's ready.

kdub0013

Well no work today. Waiting on my buddy to pull my tires and wheels off his rig. I did order some shifter boots for the tranny and cases from marlin so I can keep the good in and bad out.

My list as follows

Fill/bleed brakes and power steering
Wire up light bar
Put the passenger full door on the front and I'll be winterized for the most part.
Check all fluids and ready for fordyce

When I cut the exo off and go in cab cage I'll throw the rear glass back in.
