i am running 38's on a 85 toyota it how lift can you go without comprimising to stability?

Rocksurfer

With 38's you will already have a substantial lift, and probably too much unless mods were made to the fenders and wheel tubs to minimize the amount of lift needed to fit those tires.

4" lift on 38s with a little trimming is about right. I'm running a similar setup, check out my build thread in my sig.
