I am trying to decide what tires I should get for my rig.  It is probably going to be about a 70% trail and 30% road rig.  I am trying to decide between the KM2 or the new Wrangler MTR.  Which one would get less eaten up on the road?  be better on the trail?  If you have any other Tire suggestions just throw them at me.
thanks.

There are MANY threads comparing these two tires all over the net. Here's a link to one from the marlin site:

tell us more about your runner, what size tire are you planning on running?

There are 3 tires I would personally choose from for a street/trail rig: KM2, MTR, and Cooper STT
1988 Blue Std Cab: SAS, Longs, HP/ARB/5.29 Front, ARB/5.29 Rear, Marlin Dual Ultimate w/ 23 Spline MC07XD-R10, Marlin 30 Spline Front & Rear Output Shafts, Dave's Triple shifter, FROR crossmember, Bilstein 12" f+r, RUF w/ 63s, 7in bob, 40x13.5x17 MTR's on Racelines Monster Beadlocks 17x9.5

right now I am running 33's with a 3" suspension lift,  Trail gear springs and bilstein 5125 in the front and chevy 63's in the rear.  I dont know how I feel about the chevy 63 swap I did.  Its got a good amount of flex but I dont like the way it sits and drives down the road.  I was thinking about running 35's

Km2's kick a**!!!!! I dont think i will ever buy another tire in any size. I have had them for a couple of years now.  Very happy with their performance.
83 shorbed pickup. 22 re swap. Dual ultimates, l52hd tranny, 5 " marlin trailflex lift. Yukon 529. Grizzly in rear zip locker front. And a bunch of other stuff....

I've seen too many km2's with sliced sidewalls. The performance isn't too great and they are terrible in the rain.

I wet back to coopers and haven't looked back, the km2's are so overrated

I think the Km2s are great in the rain, and I live in Oregon, I drive and wheel in rain 3/4 out of the year.
Ive owned Cooper STT and KM2, performance wise I felt they behaved the same on and off road, just my experience.

sliced sidewalls are an issue with km2,mtr, and stt.

how does it sit and drive down the street?

I ran km2s on my first gen and they were a fantastic tire, until I drove on ice or packed snow. I won't get another set because of how many scary experiences I had with km2s and their lack of lateral traction.

Now I'm running stts on my 3rd gen and I love them, I wish their 37 was cheaper though. I have cut through a couple sidewalls but I got them vulcanized and they've been fine since. I ran a set siped and my current set is unsiped, I don't notice much of a difference between the 2.

I would always be breaking the tires loose takin off from a light or at a turn with my km2's, even though I'm light footed. The coopers don't break traction as much...
