I'd say it's cheap insurance. Cut a pipe cap in half and cover both axles.

So an update. Matt and I got the FJ rotors on the hubs. After that i got back to the my moms house, and worked on the truck... I got the rear of the frame flapdisked and it now has 2 coats of flat black rust prevention.  When i went to pull the frame back in, i finally took the rear drivelines off and when it popped off the flange, gear oil started to leak out and now i have an excuse for getting atleast gears.  :gap:

zebracrawler

you just need to put some rtv o the splines on the flange an it will stop that if you don't want to re gear is it coming from transfer case or pinion

Pinion

zebracrawler

the gear oil is coming from the inside where the pinion nut is.  i would say you could pull that off and put rtv on it but i think you will need to re set your back lash on your pinion.
