A Special 85 build....

So a bit of an update. So Matt, a buddy of mine, and i tore into it and not really accomplished anything. Got half a front hanger on, got the WELDED bench seat out and half way got the tranny out for my W56 tranny to go in. Didnt really take alot of pics.

Ok, so matt came out for a bit and help me tie some stuff together. We first got the weight on the rear(FINALLY), started to get the Tranny and tcase pulled out but them top 2 bolts kicked our @$$..... so we gave up and started to tinker with the wiring before he had to take off... When my welder finally got there, we finished welding the rear front hanger and the front hanger. Now in all my wisdom and hastiness, we(Dayne) welded the front crossmember welded 1/4" off to the side(off center) but i figured since its a 130 welder, ill cut the welds when i can and re-position  it and weld it fully with a better grade 230 welder.


Anyways, here is the crossmember welded and weight bearing.





Here is one with my baby and my nephew(he really wants to go crawling with me since i started this project).

And one with the cab all cleaned out and the seats bolted in.



So once i figure out the trick to the 2 bolts on the top of the Trans to motor bolts, ill swap the W-56 trans over and figure out what clutch i got to use is best, figure out the rat nest they PO called wiring, get the ignition(key) figured out, Shock hoops and Shocks, then drivelines...

 Gentlemen, wicked work boys. Always nice to see a new Yota, The only thing I say would that you should have used POR15 paint on the frame, but you always can in the future .

Alright fellas,  so a kinda update on the truck. Picked up a runner seat that was in real nice condition, a sweet hood, fender, and door hinges. Got them installed and make the trick awesome lookin.






But once I'm kinda at a stand still with ignition and working this beast together(even though it's still carb'd). So I got to thinking, I really wanna haul buddies around and I wanna have a removable top. So I was gonna look at getting just a runner tub and swap over whatever I need. So today I was searching around and found an awesome... Opportunity







It's a very unmolested rig(74 yr old gramps owns it) except for the drivers side upper core support is smashed from a flat bed truck. Now I find it awesome that in the earlier pic of the fender I just got is perfect replacement for the one missing.

Anyways, specs for the new rig.

87 4runner - 218k miles on frame
22re - 15 k on rebuild
5spd - stock w56?
Stock everything else.
Not sure if it's sr5 or not...


Oh and I think it's a fair price of $850....

Felt awesome, about a minute and a hammer and the bed'll be good as new! Probably! But I still have crap to do to my truck. Worked on it all last week. Now I have some more lights to add and bodywork to do.

Oh its gonna be epic.... its gonna be clean and tidy and done right... unlike the one i was currently building.  Its gonna be a whole lot quicker too since i have virtually everything to make it trail worthy.
