Started some wiring today. Got as far as I could with what I had, still need to make a list and hit the wire supply shop before it fires. Just might have that spiral flow audio soon  :eyebrow:

The main switch and ignition was mounted within easy reach of both occupants. I wanted the passenger to be able to get to the kill switch just in case I knock my self goofy.

The blue 8 gauge is BAT+ before it reaches a fuse, red is  BAT+ after the fuses, and black is ground. In the box there is a ground bar at the rear, a key hot fuse block, an all time bat hot fuse block, and the diagnostic plug on the side. Only the ECU and exhaust sensors will get power from inside the box. All other accessories will get there power from the key hot post that goes through the side of the box. Should be fairly simple and easy to trouble shoot if there is ever the need.

Thank you.

The wiring progress is hiccup free at the moment  and I have weatherpack connectors to thank for it. I got the weatherpack kit from summitracing #103005, one hand crimp tool #103021, and an extra pack of 12ga. refills #106101. These things are sweet!

Item # 103021 has dark blue handles.

Let me show you how they work.

Strip it back an 1/8" or so then slip on a seal and you're ready to crimp.

The slots numbered 2, 3, and 4 are for crimping the terminal to the copper wire. Numbers 1 and 5 are for squeezing the band around the seal.

Squeez!

Squish!

BA-BAM!!

Slide it in and slam the latch.

Males

One happy fan.

A removal tool was included in the kit just in case a wire gets set in the wrong spot.

Just slide it over the terminal and push it in over the barbs. Then wiggle and pull lightly.

Alright, time for some sit down work! Just gotta get the five, 50amp Pico switches into the box.....what with wires....uh, this ought to be fun  :wall:

I prefer non soldered joints with adhesive shrink tube. I choose clear so I could keep an eye on the joint and watch for any discoloration the wire may occur.

Floating the flame off to the side keeps the shrink tube from getting burnt. You can actually watch as the inside of the shrink tube becomes fluent as it warms up.

Here you can see the adhesive squishing out the end.

The ground wires from the switches to the thru box ground post.

Needed to mount these first, then one switch at a time.

Nightmare over  :ha_ha: rubix cube complete  :woohoo:

Made these for the fan and fuel pump too. They are key hot on the out side post of the ammo can.

Are you referring to the dirt cheap $30 hand crimpers or the dirt cheap terminals and plugs? I searched for UL ratings for the weatherpack terminals and on this crimp tool, but I didn't have much luck. However, I did find a ton of info on UL ratings and requirement for Airplanes and motorcycles, cool stuff.

Ultimately the overall expense to obtain everything I needed to wire this rig in house, has lead me to the weatherpack product, but this was not my first choice. I am certain that the weatherpack stuff will serve as good or better than my past soldered joints. And way better than twisting the wires together with only black tape as a cover. Both have worked, though I'm not proud  :shakehead:

I am interested in learning more about wiring and the correct tools required.

I work for a Del inc. that uses all UL,ULC and NSF rating on are units, I have every crimper in my tool box, not worth the Cash, way to expensive for the crimpers. If your located on the central coast i can bring them home anytime//

rcbro

I've used several crimpers and have several. I've tossed them all in the bottom drawer except for this set here:
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item.asp?P65=&tool=all&item_ID=650252&group_ID=683215&store=snapon-store&dir=catalog

Quick changing tips, perfect crimps and it's ratcheting. Only thing its missing is coax crimp teeth. Until they come out I have a separate set.

I agree, I had the spiral flow on my 3rz and it was as loud as a straight pipe. I honestly dont think it is a muffler. lol. I double muffled mine too, with a Borla. Like the build keep it up.

Thank you! That's a very generous offer, I will keep this in mind.

Looks like a good unit at a fair price. Is it the ratchet's power that makes this a better choice over what I have or the tighter tolerances of the crimp jaws?

Tighter tolerances and the ratcheting usually eliminates over crimping and not crimping enough to hold the wire. I'm still surprised at how cheap it is. My hand crimpers for normal butts and spades was nearly the same price.

Pinching :twocents: and using the Ol' noddle to get a little closer to doing some 4-dingin'! Saved a ton by recycling all the stock brake parts to make one of them fancy, non-boosted, rear swinging, whatchamahavits. I'll show you the "go controller" next.

This build has been made to accept both pedal assembly's shown in this photo.

This curvy pedal was originally made to be on the other side of the firewall plate. The curved recess that was made to contour the bottom of the booster just happened to work out perfectly with the chassis tube.

Nope, no bites yet. Unless spammers count, then yes, the fishing is great  :shake: I'm not excited to sell it, I have my heart set on finishing this car and driving it into the ground. Although freeing up some money invested would allow me to pursue a couple more product ideas for the market  :lipsrsealed: I've said too much  :bolt:

This guard will keep me from breaking the plastic cable housing with my foot. The smooth transition from the guard to the pedal will help keep me on step when the terrain gets ruff.

I was thinking I could adapt a bicycle toe basket to the end of the throttle pedal for some addition foot control.

The purple plate is from the cheek of a MS FOX logo we had laying around  :D recycling is awesome!!
