It's SLOW.............

But only with IE9  (fine with firefox, and I did clear the cookies, and other sites are fine with IE9)

Hmmmmm Well the code hasn't changed, only the device serving the pages. Are you referring to this forum or our store site?

Thanks
Mike

Seems to be forum only.

Tried compatibility mode, didn't matter either way.

Problem didn't start with the server change, but only started within the last couple of days.

It's also somewhat intermittent;   about 75% slow page loads, within the other 25% fast.

Malwarebytes doesn't find anything,  SuperAntispyware finds cookies, but even after they are removed; same results here.

Also ran IE9 with 'no add ons'   still slow........

Different (older XP desktop) with IE8

IE8 is slower than firefox, but not as slow as IE9 on the newer, faster Win7 laptop.

Status line on bottom of IE9 states

Waiting for response from marlincrawler.com

Sounds good emsvitil, thank you for the excellent feedback.

I am nearly finished with an entirely new forum upgrade (brand new and much faster backend, nearly the same look and feel), so I doubt I'll do much more with this software that we are currently using. The only thing that has changed is that I configured the new server with Alternative PHP Cache (APC) for our PHP accelerator instead of eAccelerator, which was what we used to run. I did some research and concluded that APC is better for our needs here.

As for the new forum, I planned to have it done by Jan 1st, amongst other past failed predictions, but am redesigning our entire transfer case section on our WWW site at the moment which has my full attention. Once that is done I hope to finish the forum upgrade which I not only promise but I put the BigMike Guarantee that it will be much quicker with many more advanced features than what this community has ever experienced before.

What I can do is set the caching to a more aggressive level and see if that helps or hinders user experience.

Ok, I have increased the aggressiveness of our caching to a setting that is generally "not recommended". This is the first time I've ever tried this setting, which is CPU extensive, but that's because we never had the processing overhead available before, so please let me know if its faster or slower, or if things are broken now ;)

Thanks
Mike

Okay, if you could bear with for a bit longer the reward will be a brand new forum :smokin:
