Auto trans issues(Poping out of gear)
« on: Dec 05, 2011, 08:54:30 AM »
Having trouble with the automatic trans kicking out of gear when I get the truck twisted on the trails. This is happening with my Extra cab and my 4Runner. Both trucks are running the factory auto, 5.29 gears lockers at both ends. Neither truck has a body lift. I run both trucks with about a quart extra trans fluid to help it from starving fluid.

When I do a climb and get twisted up it will pop out of gear even if I have the auto in 1st and T-Case in low. Even though the shifter does not physical move in the center console. The truck just revs.

I’ve adjusted the linkage and believe it is correct. Is the body twisting that much? Is any one else having this trouble with their auto trucks? Thanks
Nothing puts a smlie on my face like the green glow of 4x4 on the dash !

I usually add an extra 1/2 inch sleeve on the linkage to fix this issue due to flex. It is flex that is causing this, also check your body mounts for tightness or wear.
