Operation Desert Yota
« on: Dec 04, 2011, 06:58:32 PM »
just going to share a few pics of OPERATION DESERT YOTA:
1982 long bed(wb 110")
the beginning:

I was heading North on the 99, my tranny went out:

After I swapped the tranny, I went on a night run on a local trail, on the way back I was drifting around the turns and ended up flopping it:

I didn't like the wa the cage was done in the back, so we modified it:

Got me some LED lights(tail/brake, turn, and back up)

picked up a tool box:

I wanted a black tool box, my buddy traded me for his:

I wanted the tool box to set low:

bought some tube and redid some stuff:

took it on another night run, this run for 9/11, no body damage this time, just:

so one day on my way to work, a CHP pulls me over and tells me my rear turn signals and back up lights will not work for him, luckily he was a off road guy and let me go, after about 15 min talk about my truck, so I bought a trailor adaptor kit for the wiring and made the tail/brake lights into tail/brake/turn and used some other lights I ad laying around for back up lights:

Picked up a front bumper from craigslist, the bumper is by Badlands Bumpers MFG.:

Infectious Off-Road, a local 4x4 group had a wrenching party here in Bakersfield, so I took some tube and we made a tire carrier for my truck:

and here is what happens when someone ask you, "what is this on your front seat"  and I reply paint and paper:

tire carrier done, and got some new color:

started working on the flat bed part:

redid the lights with new plate:

remounted my CB antenna:

painted the grill and headlight trim:

I cleaned up all the plate and got it painted with that spray on bedliner stuff from Autozone, I will post more pics later.

Some of you are probably wondering why i am putting money into the cosmetics, and not drivetrain, I did put a front lockrite in and that made a big differance, I am currently waiting for a my compensation to start kicking in from the VA, once I get that first check.....watch out!!  all of it is going to drivetrain!!

I did use them for a while, I removed them after the CHP pulled me over, they were pretty bright, now I have them in my front inner fenders as rock lights
