Had a great time at Big Bear last weekend but when you play, you must pay. I was coming down the backside into Lucerne Valley when all of a sudden my Klune-V popped out of gear. It made some grinding noise since it was trying to go back into gear, I quickly stopped put it in low drove forward then put it back into hi and took off. No problem from that point on until I got home, I always engage the crawler to back into my garage since it is kinda tight and it popped back out. Tryed it again and the only way I could keep it engaged was to hold it in. Thinking it may be the detent I pulled my inspection cover and checked things out, it seems it is not fully engaging like something is blocking the shift-fork or it may be bent. I called Klune and it has them scratching their heads too, since everything looks Ok. Soooooo, out comes the Klune........

It is pretty straight forward removal but man that thing is wedged in with a shoe horn. I am not relishing the thought of putting it back in.

It's so CUTE  but by the looks of your last post I would have to put you down for a no! But I'm sure you'll get all those pesky bugs worked out.

Dosen't it seem that for every step you take forward there is a rock sitting there to trip you up?  That thing was a pain to get out, it is kinda wedged in there, getting it out was impossible, fixing it is going to be the easy part, getting it back in is going to be interesting.

Well not much to speak of today, I seperated the Klune from my t-case, checked a few more possible problems that Josh at Klune had suggested may be the problem, I will be sending it to Klune since nothing changed. I did start the ball rolling on reinstalling it by trimming a little more sheetmetal out of the tunnel. I also straightend the cover since to get it off required some prying, painted the cover and the surrounding area of the floorboards black since I had it off.

Tell them this don't look good for the KluneV to have you miss MCR5 and see if they can get it fixed soon. Or even give you a loner till they do.

A loner? I better have it back before then or it will look bad for after MC5!

Some way some how my lil' POS with no hp was able to distroy that big 'ol Klune-V designed for big block Cheby's in less than 500 miles. Just goes to show you can't beat a Marlin Crawler.

I never left, but I will just be borrowing my old truck. Even without the Klune I put that Samurai back together with stock gearing and got a fair price for it and then have a friend picking up the Klune and gonna get it fixed then I think he said he was going to mount the 4.1 Klune it in a Samurai with a 6.5 tcase just for fun. :yikes:

You didn't need that wee little thing anyway...time to build a 4runner!
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

The brother that I traded my old truck for the Junkerai just happens to have a few 4Runners laying around.  :eyebrow:
