Superyota is running custom dual shackles and he loves them.  I plan on making some for my rig before the round up.  Main thing for me is being able to lock the upper shackle in place for road driving.

Had a friend that put a set on his 85 runner years ago. When he reached Ellis Cheek on the Con (about one mile in) he swapped the stock ones back on. They were unloading on him on uphills, downhills, and sidehills. I understand they work great on Jeeps but not on Toyotas for some reason.

i've been running my dual shacles for almost 5 years now.  3 of those 5 years it was my daily driver.  I never had problems with it ever unloading on my.  with a revolver shackle you might have problems.  I have my toyota lift shackle folded up against the frame, and the stock chevy shackle on my 63's bolted into it(dual shacles).  it works great.  just my   :twocents:.  There are several other posts on this same topic.  i'll see if i can dig them up.

I've got double shackles on mine and I daily drive mine. I don't have any problems driving on the street or offroad.  :headscratch:

I'm using a toyota lifted shackle to the frame and then connected to a Chevy lowering shackle to the 63" Chevy spring.

Revolver shackles are not the same as double shackles. They operate completely different, I've run both and with 100% surety would never run Revolvers again. Way to scary on hills as noted above. FYI I loved my doubles and ran some f/r on one of my Samurai's, not a good idea on a Toyota front though unless you want to constantly have the driveshaft pull apart since the front sammi shackles are forward mounted.

wouldn't you need something like a traction bar for that?

They are a strange setup for sure, they do lift a little when accellerating but not so much that a traction bar would be needed. The big deal happens when they don't have a load on them due to either climbing or desending once that happens they tend to unload and open at the worst time.

Superyota do you have them in the front also? Also could you take a picture of the rear just sitting normal? No big hurry just curious. Intrested in doing this mod myself. Thanks!

If you out dual shackles in the front it will make ur rig really unstable plus it would be very hard to keep your front drive shaft from coming out of the slip.

I have the exact same dual shackle setup on my DD 85 runner as superyota pickup. never had any problems with them unloading and i do fordyce few times a year and take corners faster than posted limit signs. I wouldnt do duals on the front or let revolvers anywhere near it

no, just have them in the rear. like kooter and crawlin said, you don't want them in the front, and don't go near the revolvers.  i'll see if I can dig up a picture of it sitting normal.
