I know a guy that has a few of them and he loves them. Although he has modded one way past stock.

I had a 1st Gen Nissan (pre 2005) Nissan Frontier (essentially the same vehicle minus the body from the dashboard back) and loved it. Lots of friends with the the Gen 2 Xterras too. Some had problems in 05 and a little into 06 but but they are still a awesome vehicle. Those 4 liters have some balls to them too. Same block the Nissan 350z uses, just stroked out.

I have a 2003 xterra ON 33s and its a great camping rig.  Ive done some moderate trails on it as well.  My parents have a 2009 Xterra and it is a very capable rig stock.

abnormaltoy

I've never owned one, but friends that have them, like them.

I'd probably sas it anyway...Nissan's IFS doesn't seem as stout as Toyota's does. (or maybe just watch it like a hawk)

There fairly stout for what they are, I never had a problem with my IFS and I did some blues and light blacks at Rousch Creek in PA without any damage on 33's.

If you are still looking for opions .I did own one for a short while in 09.It was the v6 2005 five speed. With a manual trasnfer case and everything. It was a fairly good rig for my self.It had under 80k miles on it when I bought( should of kept it)But any who.I did some back road driving in AZ and it was pretty good. The only problem I had with was that I had to replace themostat  but everything was great in the rig.

Stats : 85 Toyota 22RE , 3" body lift, 32" wild country's, Duel Marlin, Lock rights front and rear, full inside cage.

I drive , I wheel , I crawl , I am Toyota

cool thanks man were still looking and thinking, thinkin about a double cab tacoma

superyota

when i worked for cal mini / full traction, the owner had a yellow xterra that was sas'd with a d44.  he loved it and wheeled it hard.  cal mini makes diff gears for the nissan in a 5.38 if i remember right, and they also make tcase gears also.  lots of stuff out there for them, and they have good motors.  We just sold my wife's ram 1500 and were looking at getting an xterra.  changed mind last minute and went with a tahoe instead so she can pull our horse trailer around.

you know the funniest thing about this, the guy goes to all the trouble of making all these little intricate bends to mold the shape of the rig... then on the fenders just goes for a strait shot to the front.. looks like :moon:
