Been on some other Toyota forums for awhile now.  Mostly hang out on ToyotaOff-Road.com

Here's my current rig that's in the middle of a 3.4L swap

Already has blazeland LT and a T100 rear axle.  More specs in my build thread

I've been snooping around over here mostly looking at crawlbox tech since that's the next mod in line after the new motor is in.

Thanks man.  I think one of our forum members mistook your truck for Chris's (boomtaco01)

Huh?

A friend of mine from another forum saw your truck driving around in Houston and thought it was another friend of ours.  Thought you might know him since he lives in Houston, wheels in Texas, and is on TTORA.  Hopefully that was more coherent.  It IS late in this neck of the woods

Dallas sucks! Sorry to have to tell ya that but it does.
Texas has some good wheeling but you have to pay to play. All the land in TX is owned by someone. Count on having anywhere between 2 to 5 hours to get anywhere really cool to wheel.

Dallas is close to one of the best parks in Texas; Barnwell Mountain.  There's also Bridgeport OHV Park and you'd be way closer to Superlift park in AR than I am.

ajordan1975

Barnwell is good, but I wouldn't call it the best  :soapbox: that's my opinion. Probably because I've been there sooooo many times. Best for me in TX is Trees Ranch! Place is awesome! Next would be K-Rocks.
In Dallas you're not far from Clayton OK (green acres). Buy far the best wheeling I've ever done! Clayton might remind you more of Cali wheeling then anywhere else her in TX.

I haven't been to Trees because it's almost never open or Katemcy because from what I understand you have to have a damn huge rig to get around out there

There's alot more driving involved around here to get to good wheeling, that's for sure.

ajordan1975

Trees has a run on Labor Day weekend. I would go but got back from Superlift last weekend.
I haven't been to K2 yet, but the there was plenty to do at the old one on 35's. I think a tow rig and disregard for body damage is needed at K2.

I really want to go to Trees if I have my motor done in time.  Is there enough fun to be had there on 33s?

ajordan1975

I think so. Locked f/b??? If so you should be good. There's 5500 acres there and they have a great map of the park all color coordinated of trail diffaculy

Haven't locked the front yet.  Not sure if I'm going to yet or do LS instead

I think I'm leaning towards going out to Trees instead of the 4WheelParts event at HF if i'm able to wheel that weekend.  Thanks for the info.

:driving:  Thanks for all the good info. Trying to decide if I should sell the rig I have or if it will work there too. Sounds like I would be ok though.

Are there a lot of restrictions for driving it on the road? Or would I be street legal, in Texas??

Compared to other states, it's easy to get your rig street legal.  No fender/ mudflaps required, smog is easy if you even live in a county that requires it.

San antonio is the 7th largest city in the US and there's no smog requirements here.  I see buggies on 37s driving down the road every now and then.  It's usually better to trailer your rig though unless you live close to an OR Park.

ajordan1975

If it's 25 or older no emissions! Just a safety inspection and that's only 15 bucks. Lights, horn, parking brake and brakes is all they will check. No flaps or any of the BS you deal w/ out there in California
