Been having this dump running condition for the longest time in my '85 4runner, made a thread 'bout it, ran through the FSM trying to figure out the reason for a "5" code to no avail. Question is if the 22re could run with one tooth off on the timing chain gear? I have been into this system for too long and am running out of options. This, the coolant temp sensors, and fuel pressure are the only things not accounted for on this system. thx

Yes......... (no codes)

My chain skipped 2 teeth......

Had no high end power, and had to re-index the distributor to get it to run until I changed the timing chain.

it will for sure. should not run well but with only 1 tooth off you can get the timing close enough that it will run ok

Gonna pull the valve cover and see where the mark lines up! Engine just misses like crazy at idle, but when under load it seems fine. If I put timing to 5 degrees, the engine will barely idle because of how much it misses. Thx for the replies.

the easy way to tell is check your timing and see if when moving your distributor will it go all the way across the range (12* + to about 3* -)

My Chevy gots a V8 more lift an bigger tires,and an exhaust system, whats yer tuna can got, a V4, and them tires look like they is offa Saturn Corulla.
