recently i replaced the head gasket on my truck and it ran fine then one day it started to run like crap we looked at the timing and it was off so we put it back into time and it dident have any power and we took it out of time and it run fine for a little bit but now it runs fine and the timing chain marks and evrthing line up so any suggestions or tips would help

check the tensioner if you put the bolts back in any hole it could go through the cover and hit the tensioner and hold it back so it wont keep tension on the chain. each bolt has a certain hole it goes in.  good luck.

I've had boats at work that wouldn't run for unless I advanced them atleast 30 degrees.  Any chance you're one tooth off on the distributor?
