chevy springs and flex
« on: Jun 04, 2011, 02:02:18 PM »
So I've heard that instead of relocating the spring hangers and such u can use 9 in shackles on both sides and use the Chevy springs?? And also I've got 33 1250s and when I flex with my stock springs it will scrub the frame if flexed hard.. wat would be a solution to this?

Bumpstops, spacers, rim offset, etc.

Yes, I run 1.5 spacers in the rear to take care of it. Personally, I would not run eight shackles, to unstable IMO.

Is it 8 or 9 in? And what is so unstable about it?

Because of the leverage of the long shackles there is more of a chance of side to side motion. You can cut down on the side to side by bracing the shackle, then the shackles are not independent of each other. Also, the longer your shackles the more it changes your pinion angle.
