Single u-joint Up Front
« on: May 12, 2011, 04:34:38 PM »
Hello everyone, I basically want input or opinion on running a single U-joint on my front driveline. My CV took a :pokinit: and I need to replace it on the cheap I would love to have a CV up front but they are too expensive and getting hard to fine anyways If anyone ran a similar set up which is to u-joints upfront please give me the pros and cons of the setup I am currently running dual cases so that is why I consider this setup let me know thanks guys  :beerchug:

I run single U-joints up front. I don't have any issues with binding either.

IFS CV clearenced will work fine. I do not know where you live but I find them all the time in California at the P-N-P for about thirty dollars. One of the best things to use is the single U-joint that comes on the IFS front d-line. For some reason Toyota made them with a lot of angle to them, more then the SA front D-shaft has.Do you have a single case or dual cases? How fast do you drive in 4 wd to worry about vibration?

I have dual cases I was trying to fine an 85 rear driveline and work that into my front as far as speed Id say 40 at the fastest because In some spots you may need to get to point a to point b relativeley quick. so will the u-joint off the front of an IFS front drive shaft work the best? That too let me know what your driveline consist of I have the brand "x" long slip driveline.

I got my D-shaft from Dave'z Offroad Performance. You will find it here.

will the u-joint off of the rear d-line of an 85 work or do the IFS u-joints have the most clearance?
