I have a 4'x8' sheet of .070 cored carbon fiber. Needs to be polished. Has some spots that have wood glue on it that would have to be sanded off. A 11"x32" is $350. Im asking $900. Obo willing to cut specific sizes for you, can polish for you too. Located in manteca ca. call or text Dave at 209-275-8574

Is it flacking and exposing the carbon cloth, or just flacking  like a clearcoat would on a car and exposing the paint.

Carbon fiber is normallly not clear coated. It sounds like it the resin that is chipping on you. I have heard that you can use fiberglass resin to fix it but im not sure. I have never tried so don't take my word for it. If it just needs to be polished use a da sander with 800 grit(depends how bad it is) and work you way up 1500 or 2000 grit(wet sanding works best) then use a car polish and wax.

If its just scratched and faded then you should be able to polish it out

There are only a few things that go on carbon to give it a gloss....  One is extra resin is poured on top and then wetsanded and polished like a clear coat.  This is not normally done since becouse if there is to much resin in one spot over time when exposed to uv it will start to yellow really bad in just certain areas.  2nd is a gelcoat, but once again clear gelcoats usually start to yellow with exposed uv after time.   The 3rd and cheapest which is what you will come across is to paint it with a automotive clear coat. the reason this is done is becouse well it's cheap, can be sprayed and buffed to a gloss, and provides a decent amount of uv protection.  I'm going to guess with out seeing is that it was clearcoated and thats whats peeling.   Alot of companies do not prep the piece properly before they clear coat and it flakes over time.

those are the 3 most common practices on how to make what i call pretty pretty parts, there for show and serve no purpose really.  there are other ways to get a perfect gloss finish on carbonfiber and other composites but it's costly and no widely used in the automotive world expect by a few select manufactures.
