ya I think i'm going to wait it out until I can go Lt. I can't stand chrome either, but I am going to build tube bumpers front and rear for it when I get the time and some tube. I do still need to do the door handles, the toyota taco emblem on the door and the little lock on the gas latch. Also I took of the shell and put my tool box in the back, i'll take pictures tommorow but I think it looks way better.

If I were you, I'd just put on the bilstiens and see how you like it. I think you'll be pretty damn impressed with how they ride. They are a little bit on the stiff side for the road, but kick ass on bumpy fire roads and snow ruts. I noticed mine has way less body roll as well. I think you'll dig em.

Ya being as my rock rig isn't going to be ready, I will be taking this to moonrocks for memorial day. So I am going to put the bilsteins on it and do a little bit of rocks and a little bit of high speed stuff. So I should be able to decide what direction I want to go with it.

Nice. I'll probably be there for memorial day as well. Taking my Taco and dirt bike up more than likely. Don't really want to take my runner til I have a cage built. I'll have just as much fun watching my friends tear up there trucks. We'll have to meet up.

Ya me neither, but I transport a lot of skis and snowboards for work and it nice not to have a bed full of snow when I have 30 skis to pile in there.

Dude why keep moding this one? i'd get your other rig completely done before you even start to mess with this one. You were deciding on weather to go spool front/hydro or arb front/no hydro. How about don't spend any more money on this thing and do both arb and hydro? Seems like it'd make more sense to leave this one alone till you get the crawler done.
-'85 Toyota pickup, 35's, 4.7 dual cases, locked f/r, longs, etc.

-'04 Jeep Wrangler, 4 1/2" RE Lift, 33's, ARB's, 4:1's.

Yes I have decided all of that. I am only throwing what has to be done into this truck like the dang cv axle that broke and my ps pump that went out, and the bilsteins are laying around already. I could have the crawler done by moonrocks, but it would be rushing and I would rather miss out on it and do everything right so the rig is ready for the summer wheeling season.

Ya definately man, I will be in my taco and I am not bringing a big bike but I will have my crf 50 with a 110cc race motor on race gas. Thats kind of were I am at, I took my truck on 35's without a cage last year and I barely wheeled it at all. It wasn't even worth the gas and wear and tear of driving my rig up there.

My starter is jacked up. It clicks like 15 times before finally turning over, I'm pretty sure I need new starter contacts. Anyways here are some pictures of it topless getting some sun. Ya, I know they fully suck but I took them on my old ass phone.

My taco did that for a while.  I cleaned the battery posts really well, threw some grease on them, and the made sure the starter contacts were good.  Been running good ever since with no problems.

I put new battery connectors on it, along with a new battery. It got a little better, but not much. I am almost positive I need new contacts, sometimes I sit there clicking it over and over countless times, wondering how I am going to get the truck home and then it finally starts. But the wierd thing is that when the weather is sunny and hot out it only takes a few clicks, and then when it snows it takes hundreds of clicks.

I vote long travel. I built a 99 4runner with TC long travel kit/rem. Res. Coilovers and triple by pass shock with remote res. It was sick and fun as beck in the sand. I'd be nuken 45-55 over big whoops next to built sand cars. Never really jumped it though. It drove pretty good on the Road steering was super tight. If I were to do it over I would keep the factory balljoints instead of the hiem joint upgrade. And if it was sloppy with the stock balljoints then upgrade.
I'm too lazy to find it now but the build thread is on yotatech.com under swapped89 total Chaos 3rd gen 4runner or something like that.

It was spendy though like 6500 for everything up front. fenders paint dual shocks. And all the bells and whistles.

I'm getting about 16.5mpg and two of my buddy's tacomas are getting in the 20mpg range :screwy:

Yeah I have been getting crap MPGs.  So I have tried to drive more conservatively and I got 20.8 MPG this last fuel up.  Was getting 16-17 MPG with an occasional 18 MPG.  I have not been impressed with the IFS or steering on my Tacoma but upgrades in any direction seem to be about 6k once everything is said and done.

I would like to long travel it, but I don't want to spend 6k on my dd. I could sas it with a d44 for around $1500 no problem, but i'm not sure I want to go back to driving on a solid axle everyday. I've actually been thinking about selling it and buying an older dodge extra cab to tow my wheeling rig.

Well not really any updates, truck is still exactly the same.     But there will be updates eventually, I am saving up to buy a diesel tow rig/dd so I can swap my 60's, 40's, 3 link, and duals into the taco. For anyone that watched the build of the 91 in my sig, the 3 link will be fairly different on the frame end since I will be using a fror style crossmember with a square tube structure for the upper and lower link mounts.
Specs I have in mind for now( probably will change by the time the cutting begins)
  duals from the 91.
tail housing from the 91 on the taco's tranny so I don't have to buy a 3.4 adapter.
 flat belly with fror crossmember.
51 ford rear springs from the 91 with bilstiens.
16" radflos from the 91 with a few changes to work for the taco.
 air bumps
box the rear of the frame
bed will most likely not be bobbed so I can sleep in the bed with the campershell when camping.
removable partial exo( think boogerweldz silver bullet).

Oh and this is going to be completely street legal, so I can drive it when I want or needed  :smokin:

Sick rig can't wait to start my Taco build trying to get the odds and ends hammered out before I take the torches to it. Anyone used FJ80 axles under a Taco? That is what I'm thinking guy locally has a set for 600 bucks.
