Going to Lake Tahoe next week, Any trails open?
« on: Feb 13, 2011, 08:10:18 AM »
My family is going to Lake Tahoe next week for a week long vacation.  Just curious but I figure everything will be snowed over and closed.

Figured I would ask here if any trails would be open?  I'm taking the family truck.  My Tacoma w/ 32's so I'm not doing anything serious.  How about dirt bike trails?

Thanks

Im sure you could hit the road that goes to the hard part of con and just stay on the roads there. I dont think they are closed.

Strawberry trail is a nice easy trail and is probably somewhat open, you'll hit some snow but it'll make it much more fun.

It's off highway 50 near the con...

well, it has been quite a long January thaw up here, so trails were definitely drying out. however, were supposed to get a few feet of snow within the next few days here, so i dont know what will still be wheelable. if you got a snowmobile, bring it

Yep we've been running on muddy trails with patches of snow, so high rpm stuff. We aren't gonna get that few feet of snow if the wind keeps happening.

I'm staying in Incline Village.  I just checked the weather and it looks like lots of snow.  I will be driving up from SoCal on the 19th and leaving the 25/26th.  I need something to do other than snowboard.  I'm not going to snowboard everyday because I'm still not 100% over my should surgery.

My Taco is very mild, its the family car, so anything serious should be avoided.  I've kept it mild to help me avoid destroying it, like it did to my 4runner.

BTW, where's the best place to get some good draft beer?

You're kinda far away from most of the wheeling unless you venture towards nevada. As far as getting a good beer, Village Pub on tanager st, right in incline village is probably your best bet. There are plenty of other options, but that is the best local bar and they have pool so who can complain

The little Tacoma pulled a new Silverado 2500 4x4 out of a snow bank near the June lake turn off. The 395 was covered in snow and ice and I had very little grip.  I hooked a yank strap to my Martin bumper and viola, unstuck Silverado.
