Quick question I'm going to do a solid axle swap on my yota what kit would u guys think I should do I called. Martin crawler and they said that they don't carry the sas kit anymore but that I could get the same kit from all pro off-road. I also saw one from trail-gear and sky-manufactures which one would u guys recommend I use I don't want to use one that will brake or is cheap I heard that all-pro and marlin crawler was American mad and a good sas kit but has anyone else used any other kit

bigarms23

skys if your planning on running full width axles if your not and going to run a yota front axle use allpros kit its a great kit and you won't be disappointment

Mine is 100% All Pro on my 89 and I have been completely happy with it for 10 years
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

I had trail-gear on my old truck and it wasn't to bad of a kit but the springs are crap. mine had toyota rear mains swapped in but they still weren't that great. Not sure about the all pro kit.

toyocrawlr

With sky's kits could I use Dana 44's

yoshaleng

Go with all-pro's kit...as far as trail-gears kit, everything is pretty good but their springs are  :toilet:.
I had to warranty all four leaf springs after 6 trips.

depends on if you want fullwidth axles, or if you want to match the width of your rear axle.  most of the time we dont upgrade our rear axles cuz they are damn near bulletproof from the factory

I wanted to get Dana 44s and get them made to fit my Toyota there's a shop that can shorten them for me. How would that work out

pumkin toy

that would work, but may i ask why?  why spend the time and money to narrow dana 44s to toyota width when you can just run toyota axles?   yota axles are easier to use because the aftermarket choices to make them work with your toyota truck and are alot more available.  i say stick with the yota axles

Nimyad

X2 on yota axles, way easiet to work on too.
Trail-gears kit seems the be the most complete and definitely the one o would choose, but i'd sell the springs and just run a ruf pack

toyocrawlr

Are the yota axles as strong as the d44's ?  Or what do u guys think. Can u guys give me some ideas on how to make my yota axle stronger

91 ex-cab

not postive, but I have heard they are both about equally strong. Get a set of longfields for your front, the rear will be fine stock.

Nimyad

they're comparable to the d44. like 91 ex-cab said get some chromo for the front. stock birfs are weaker then a d44. but the rear axles are about the same strength wise.
only way i'd go through the effort to put d44's in my truck would be it i did the jana 54 kit...

Hello
Come on man seriously! Great you got your 12 posts but 9 of them are hello. If you just want to gain posts at least say something more than hello ::)  :spankbutt: :shake:

yoshaleng

As mentioned above, the toyota axle is alot easier to come by, no extra cash to get it shortened, and almost equal to strength. With that money thrown away to shorten the D44, you can buy Longfeild w/ lifetime warranty and it would be plenty strong.

put longfield chromoly birfields in the front and your toyota axles will be alot stronger than dana 44s.

Toy axles are plenty strong if built right.  What are you planning to do with the truck? Engine? Tires? Gears? Where do you drive? Trails? Mud? Sand?

toyocrawlr

I'm not sure on the engine Im looking for a Toyota diesel but if I can't find one I wanted to go with the Chevy vortec. With 35 or 37 inch big mud's with 4.88 or what do u think about the small block v8 or the Ford 302. I'm going to use it for trail riding and to commute I don't really have the money for a second truck. What do. You guys think

Nimyad

as long as you're not running dual cases with a v8 they should live just fine with cromo front.
