This is what I did for my '91 w/my flat bed.

Looking at the pic in your sig your tires stick out too far, and after you put flaps on them, you might get another fix-it ticket if the tires stick out too far past the fender.  IIRC, here in CA no more than 2" of the tire can stick out past the fender and you can't have more than 1/2 of the tire exposed below the body.  A set of Bushwacker cut-out flares should take care of both issues for you.

there are like 100 mudflap threads...... most of them with people complaining how they got pulled over because some cop has nothing better to do

Because its True! i hate the mudflap BS.  And btw remember that new law that req's you to pay $35 for the first item on the ticket and ~$25 for any others. i got hit with a mudflap, small crack in windshield, and No Front License plate. Uhh did the 1st gens even have front license plates when they came out??? Go catch a speeder, thats actually kinda dangerous. Jeeze :maddest:

2 plates have always been the law in CA., a cracked windshield gives reduced protection from being ejected and may also be a support for the roof, mudflaps keep rocks from flying up and cracking windshields on cars behind and also reduce water slinging in the rain that have been known to blind the driver behind.

Here's what I did for mine. A piece of 1/2" gas pipe and some square tubing (i had all this laying around when I built this set up). After welding the braced square tubing to the frame just bottom out the pipe in the square tube against the frame and drill the hole for the quick release pin (This minimizes efforts for aligning when installing). Then weld a piece of flat plate to the side of the pipe and make another plate to "sandwich" the flap when you bolt it on to keep it from tearing when it flaps in the wind from driving.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the bottom edge of my body is cut to make the straight shot to the frame for the mount. But I'm sure you can make adjustments for your needs.  :yesnod:

The mudflap itself is a single heavy duty truck flap that is cut in half and then the upper corners trimmed off at an angle and all corners were rounded for a slightly less "homebuilt" look.  :gap:

Here's a link to what I did: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=27774.0;highlight=bdrunner

Basically I cut the stock mud flap to match the frame mount on my Marlin rear bumper.  Then I drilled two holes in the frame brace and threaded them to match my chosen screws.  It hasn't come loose yet and looked very close to stock.

Heres what i did i didnt want just a piece of rubber hanging there so i made a frame out of 3/4 flat stock and bent it to match the tire.

I told the cop that my truck is stock!! Lol

he said in no way is your truck stock , but then we talked for about 20 min
and mud flaps never were the subject after , he waves now

And I found out as long as you have some kind of flaps , even little stockies
that can't be a reason for getting pulled over

Im just goin off what my dmv told me, I have NEVER been pulled over for flaps here. Been pulled over for tons o other things, no mirrors, plates, cracks in windows, bein me, but NEVER have they sed anything about mudflaps. Maybe I lucky???

California Vehicle Code section 27600, bold text is mine:
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc27600.htm

V C Section 27600 Fenders and Mudguards
Fenders and Mudguards

27600.  No person shall operate any motor vehicle having three or more wheels, any trailer, or semitrailer unless equipped with fenders, covers, or devices, including flaps or splash aprons, or unless the body of the vehicle or attachments thereto afford adequate protection to effectively minimize the spray or splash of water or mud to the rear of the vehicle and all such equipment or such body or attachments thereto shall be at least as wide as the tire tread. This section does not apply to those vehicles exempt from registration, trailers and semitrailers having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds, or any vehicles manufactured and first registered prior to January 1, 1971, having an unladen weight of under 1,500 pounds.

Amended Ch. 215, Stats. 1970. Effective November 23, 1970.

I'll get pics later but I went to Betts springs and used some of the big rig mud flaps.  They are by far the easiest and cleanest way to rock flaps.  I used A82 in their catalog and welded the mounts to the frame.  The remove with a pin and look really clean compared to what I have seen around.  I used 1 big rig flap cut in half and rounded it off for both sides.

wow forgot about this thread. i got my mudflaps on as a sort of temporary thing. i noticed that my body went lower than the frame, so i took 2 mounting brackets and put them together. then i mounted a pipe onto them and then the mudflaps onto the pipe. pretty simple and keeps the chp off my  :moon:
