Good home for Great Dane
« on: Sep 20, 2010, 10:04:01 AM »
Need to find a home for a 3y.o. Great Dane my wife brought home from work that we are taking care of temporarily for a Great Dane Recsue after she was dropped off at my wife's work (vet hospital) and never picked up by her owners.  Great dog, gets along great with our dogs, calm tempermant and very playful. she needs a good home with room.  I am willing to pay the $200 adoption fee for her as long as she goes to a good home.  Text me if you want pictures, i'll try to get some up as soon as I can.  She is in bakersfield, but I can drive and meet you within a 60mi. radius if need be, maybe further if you help with gas.  thanks

Is she fixed? I might be interested. I live in norcal,  but wud drive. We have 1 acre, fully fenced, but take our other 2 dogs out to play all the time. We have a special truck that just for the dogs that we dont care if it gets dirty. We like big dogs.

It looks like molly puts up with her just fine. LOL
Just teach the dane to throw sticks and they will be best friends for ever.

Love great Danes but just don't have the space for them to get the exercise they need. Hope you find a home for her!

I would love to have her but I can barely afford to feed my dog and me.  She looks like a sweet heart.  I do have a neighbor who breeds danes.  Wonder if she would know some who might want her.

update.............. long story short, it didn't work out for the couple, they had a problem with bella knocking over their smaller children and trying to play with them.  going to pick her up in morning, so she is still available.

Damn, that sucks. In no way trying to insult you in any way, but for the ex adoptees... a great dane with small kids?? Not a wise idea on their part... :(

the couple already had a great dane.  i thought they would have known.  only thing i can think is their great dane wasn't as playful as bella :dunno: . hopefully we can find her a good home soon.  i guess i'll give craigslist a try again...

Yeah, I've never met a great dane that wasn't super playful haha. Have you tried facebook adoption groups? I am a "friend" of a pit bull rescue group of FB and they regularly find homes for dogs in need. Maybe try that if you haven't already. Good luck. I really wish I had the space I love Great Danes.

my wife just called and said the head lady over at the great dane rescue called and chewed my wife out saying she was coming to pick Bella today because we were handling her "very unprofessionally" because we were offering to pay the adoption fee and the way we have been going about trying to find her a home  . sounds stupid to me. we've taken care of her and taken her everywhere with us, and have been trynig to find her a good home, and thats the thank you we get. so if anyone is interested in her, now you have to go straight through the rescue. if you want her contact info, pm me and i'll pass it along.
