can i put a 18r 4 spd tranny in my 81 22r 2wd truck?  both tranny's are 2wd and right now my 5 spd has gone out

I really am just getting into these little trucks and need to figure out the ropes here.  New guy needs help.  thanks

thanks.  I'll go buy it now and keep you in the loop. Hopefully I'm rolling in a day or so.  Also, what manual should I buy for walking me through this process?  I've been a vw guy so far and can do that in my sleep but now it's toyotas.

Pretty sure the motor mounts are located differently and some modding is required.
