Help choosing lights
« on: Aug 02, 2010, 11:47:45 PM »
I was looking at some 55w Pro-Comp lights but i'm not sure how bright they are compared to the 100w KC daylighters.

I'm looking at getting 4 for the top of the cab...not sure what would be good though.

top of the cab around here is a place for the cheap lights.... it is true that the higher they are the better. but trees ruin a good time lol...

i have some 60watt hella's that are better than the 100w day-lighters..... that being said. i like them because they are less of a pencil beam than my old day-lighters were...
Those are some huge welds!

or 2 Hella 500's and convert to HID's.  I've got the Hella part, just need to convert.

If the procomps you are looking at use the typical H3 bulb, you can always swap out the 55wt bulbs for some brighter ones.   IIRC, I have 130wt bulbs in the KC's I run, plenty bright, though I rarely use them.

W/o a larger alternator it is going to be hard to run all 4 at the same time.

1st choice- Kragen HIDs
2nd choice-Nice 55w lights and convert them to HIDs

Notice everything is HIDs, they only draw as much as a 35w bulb and are a ton brighter.

probably going to do a GM swap or something.

until then i went with just another pair of Harbor Freight lights. Tough, Cheap, and Bright!
I'm going to see if i can switch out the bulbs
