I was replying to a fan on Facebook regarding The Crawler Truck, and I realized that Marlin's truck might be in a special crowd of Rock Crawlers that have been street driven all over the country.

Here is a list of states that Marlin has driven --not trailed-- his 1980 Crawler Truck to:

  • Alabama
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • B.C. Canada
  • California (where it lives)
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Kentucky
  • Mississippi
  • Missouri
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Oklahoma
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Virginia
  • Washington
  • West Virginia
  • Wyoming

I might have left out a couple states, I'd have to get Marlin in here to verify. But while I was figuring out everywhere the Crawler Truck has been, I was thinking, WOW, that's a LOT of states!

So post up! Let's see what states your Rock Crawler has been street driven to! :_order:

Since I've owned my truck (since 2004), it has yet to leave California  :tease:

MAJOR kudos to Marlin and the World Famous Crawler Truck! That thing is UBER RELIABLE!!

I live in Texas. I've driven to New Mexico (16 hours) and all over Texas. Going to drive it to Hot Springs Arkansas next month. Then maybe back to New Mexico this fall. Next year if the motor is still running (275,000 tired miles) I'm going to try to drive her to the Rubicon for the MCR.

That's a great picture of Marlin coming down Pritchett Canyon.  I'm not sure I'd enjoy a trip down, the last time I did the trail I used the winch anchor on that spot, I just couldn't get solid footing on the lower smooth rock and wasn't willing to hit it any harder.

In my current 4Runner, I've made two trips to Moab (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah) and one trip to the Rubicon (Washington & California).

My previous 85 never visited the Rubicon in California, but was also my college commuter between Washington and Colorado so add Wyoming it it's list.

A lot of the drivetrain is the same: front end, rear differential & transfer case.
