So here is what it looked like between the cab and the bed with the bottom folded over and welded the bed and the gap between the bed and cab up top.

And here is what it looks like on the other side. I took some 3/4" box tube and cut it to length and then hammered it into place and welded it up. Looks pretty freaking clean, i'm happy with it so far.

And here is the floor half way done. I ran out of time tonight to work on it. I just cut the cab about 1" higher and hammered it over into place and welded it. It's ugly but it's solid and will look fine once I put the bed liner down.

It was actually easier than I thought it was going to be and it's WORTH IT. I can't believe I didn't do this as soon as I bought this truck now that it's almost done. I was really scared of the sheetmetal work but with some preplanning before you cut it, it can be really simple and look halfway decent when it's done.

superyota

wow!  it really turned out nice.  i'm doing mine before i take it out again.  are you planning on leaving the back open, or do you have something lined up for some kind of top or cover?  keep the pictures coming. i'm getting ideas

Any guy who takes his woman wheeling enjoys her. A woman who is owned is left at home to cook, clean, and keep beer cold. So if this offends you you should stop looking and go have some tacos.    :rofl2: And a beer. If your old enough.   :beerchug:

The bottom of the seat has the stock brackets under it still, which are about 3" tall. Once I cut those off i'll decide if I need to cut the floor and lower it. Just looking at the bed and the gas tank i'm guessing I could lower the floor about 3" total.

How much was your cage?

$806 shipped to my house from 4xinnovations. It's DOM, 4runner passenger length with the dash bar.

Nice progress :smokin:

If you don't mind, what's your ground to frame height and wheelbase?

It's going to have a Canvas, canback style but homemade top for winter, and a bikini style canvas top for summer wheeling.

ahhh, gotcha. I plan on just modifying the stock truck bed floor. I looked for a while for a 4runner tub and finally decided I was too lazy to swap the body or the drivetrain so hence the changes now. I'll lower the floor as much as possible with the stock gas tank and it should be perfect.

Thank you. Looks a lot like what I want to build for my truck..Might be cheaper to buy one of those and modify it to fit.

Honestly, I didnt mod the cage one bit. It showed up fedex yesterday around noon and by 7 you see where I was at. The cage went together very well once I figured out the mounting plates for the floor. I'm very happy with what it cost and what the outcome is.

Truck is really coming along great. Can you snap a more detailed pic of the dash bar? Seriously considering buying this cage vs. building one. I'm aslo diggin the dove nose. Good work.

Sure thing man, I'll get a pic tonight when I get home.

GloNDark

I forgot to take some and post some of the finished pics, so I nabbed a couple crappy cell shots as I left this morning.

Seat is mounted. It's a kids seat for sure. but my son has about 7" of head room if he is sitting straight up and down, even more when he is sitting normally. I dig the way it turned out and went together.

superyota

LOOKS GOOD!  how much leg room is back there?  can you take a pic of how high your seat sits up off the floor.  I'm getting ready to do mine and trying to figure out what seat to use that sits really low.
