Alright guys im near the end of a boob AND rear skirt trimming. im in the process of building and putting on a hinge setup on the tailgate now.
i took 10 1/2 inches out of the rear. i taped those blue shop towels to the truck and cut along the line leaving 1/2 inch extra on one side, made it a real nice cut. straigh and parallel. it made reassembly SSSOOOO much easier. prep work on the inside tub floor sucked- i got stupid and tried to clean it with flapper disks, i suggest doing it someother way. i gummed up the disk everytime i used it- i had to take a piece of extra steel i had laying around and grind on that for 5 minutes or so just to clean the disk each time it gummed up which was extremly quick and often. on one side of the body i left a 1/2 inch of steel sticking out extra to the cut- then borrowed a buddies sheet metal crimper. it provided a little thicker steel to weld to making it nice to weld to without having blowouts.

as for the skirt trimming i cut it to the average height that i see online in pics and wow..... i need to get rid of the body lift. it looks so tall now.

i would love to flex it on cav. its my DD though and we plan on selling it soon since im looking for a job in town. i feel itll be a hard sale if i write in the want ads "99 chevy cavalier/chock block--- comes with IROK racing stripes and IROK tread style crumpled hood for fuel economy."

this thing is tall. if you notice i didnt put any specs on the lift height..... the front USED to be a TG 5 inch lift ( 4inch springs and 1inch shackle lift) but i had major issues witht the TG stuff due to me, AND TG's odd recomendations i went with a Alcan 5inch lift spring so when the maths done it has a 6inch lift in front. the rear? well lets just say it has a 9inch spring thats been reworked to equal out to a 7 inch super soft spring pack. not matter what i did the rear lift sagged out to about 4 inches below the front. but i sold my TG springs to a buddy and his 4runner sits level. AND the front springs were the 5inch HD springs i bought since i had the 3.4L in mine. DAMN! i measured my frame height to be a 31 inches with crawl pressure in the tires at the middle body mount. im not gonna worry about lowering it till i start into a 1ton upgrade.

i got my cage from 4xinnovations.com. its a "full" cage- a-pillar all the way back to d-pillar. but when i got it, the b-pillar was a little wider than my truck, so i narrowed it. when i did that it changed the angles of the a-pillar bringing it closer to my head. i hit it everynow and then (i padded the hell out of it). i recommend their cages if you wanna buy instead of build. but im going to build a different cage to suit me and my truck. now that ive done some fabrication im not afraid to tackle the kinda cage i wanna build.

as for fixing it im not sure exactly what i want to do. i wanna rebuild a new cage, so im not sure i really want to fix that section. but i dont want to leave it looking ugly like that sooooooooo
