Came home to a small buck in my yard tonight.  Pic came out poorly cause the neighbor kids spooked him off before I could get a good pic.  Small body, small rack, but if he's still here when bow season opens and I find out he's been in my garden, I'll be borrowing a bow and gaining some meat  :suprised:

Didn't get a pic since my hands were slimy already, but I caught my first salmon of the year.  Not huge but enough for a few meals, and the meat looked good.  It was kind of a pita to get in cause I was using a light 7' rod and was standing on a submerged rock shelf out on the river, and every time I got him near me he'd take off again.  Woulda probably been a 2 minute fight on my salmon rod with a net nearby, but it seems like it took 8-10 minutes before I tired it out enough to pull it i and grab it by the tail.

Got there right about fishing light and the hole was absolutely full of very active fish, but another guy had floated across the hole in a boat and was limiting me to a more confined area than I like to fish in the hole.  My friend also missed out too.  Told him saturday I'd be outside his house at 4am, showed up at 4:05 and waited 30 minutes and he never showed, so I finally had to jet off by myself before it got too close to fishable light.

Haven't been hunting in a while and am not familiar with all the game laws, but if they are damaging your property (IE your garden) cant you shoot them?

Holy crap, we weren't that far from each other!  I assume you went out 36 so we likely took different routes, but I was fishing the trinity, which isn't terribly far as the crow flies.  And yes, I did catch a nice salmon, again on the lite rod - about 8 pounds  :gap:

Funny, I left my house at 3:30 too, then ended up replacing the first fuel pump of the day at 5am  :shake:  Have you checked out hayfork summit area down to... whatever the hell creek dumps out at the bottom of the hill heading toward hayfork?  That's my pigeon area, and we've seen some nice bucks up there, but the local yocals like it up there too so it can be a bit sketchy!

I'm going to assume your uncle and family are in the small minority of non mouth breathers in the area  :gap:  We always stop there for gas on motorbike rides, and it's always amusing to watch reality set in for the new guys who've never witnessed that which is hayfork  :haha:

Probably Summit Creek... runs along the south side of the highway for a ways. Carr Creek comes in from the north side as you come into the valley.

That's a helluva nice ranch, and a good connection to have. I'm somewhat familiar with the area from doing telephone work around there for several years.

Yeah my dad and his brothers were born in weaverville and grew up in hayfork working for scott and other people. Its nice to roll into town and get some fairly exclusive hunting area's where the only thing deer have to fear are the lions

That's the one, Carr creek!  You can go in at the summit and hunt down to carr creek, or vice-versa.  That's where tim shot one of his little bucks and his friend shot but couldn't find a large 4x4 years back when 4 of us were up there.  If you remember, it's the time they shot a total of 17 times, 9 bullets hitting tim's deer  :shake:  They said it kept getting up so they kept shooting, and the 4x4 did a backflip after the other dude shot it, they watched the area but couldn't find the buck anywhere.

I'm drawing a blank on which one big creek ranch is  :headscratch:  That isn't the one off the road that connects all the way over to big bar, is it?

Where the East Fork dumps into Hayfork Creek? That's Sam Jackson's old ranch, isn't it?
I heard that Scott bought it several years ago.
