My 1983 HiLux build updated

Hi everyone my name is Anthony, I just picked up an old 83 hilux for $1,000 it come with a brand new 22r engine which i will be getting friday! After reading some of the other posts I figured it was a good idea to be on these forums for feedback. Im learning every day so any input is much appreciated!

Eeeew that engine harness is a nightmare I hope the new engine I pick up on friday has one haha. If not thats going to be fun a re-do haha

heres a picture of the engine that is in the truck right now. Amazingly it runs but has a rod knock

well I want to be able to drive it on the street, with 33s. It would be nice to fit some 35-37s on trail though. Im a college student on a budget but I lots of resources. I was thinking about the chevy 63 idea since its common and cheap but right now im going to start on the frame and paint it, get new brakes & lines, gas tank relocation, fuel lines, power steering belt and master bushing kit.

update finally got my engine! started working out the engine harness and labeling it so i can re do it. heres some pictures! I also started taking the rest of the dash out, I'm planning one making a sheet metal on with some new gauges soon!

well got the old engine out finally! here are some crappy pictures from my phone sorry forgot to get good pictures while i was working :(the old engine under a tarp next to my house!bad picture but theres the input shaft!

picked up a grill from a 4runner im going to adapt it onto my truck!and some cleaning of the engine bay didnt have much time to work but i thought i would put up some better pictures

Hey guys is ebay a good place to pick up a 32/36 electic choke carb kit? they are only $300 there and 500 everywhere else.

I'd rebuild a stock aisin carb and run it
81 Hilux, E-Lockers, 5.29s, Duals, 30 spline Longfields, 8274 Warn, 40" Iroks, F150s and RUF

They're really good carbs IMO

heya guys i have a question. the heating and air conditioning unit on these trucks takes up alot of space in the cab, is there any other way of getting only defrost i dont care much for heating or ac. let me know your ideas im gonna draw something up tomorrow. maybe a tube with an inline fan on a switch bringing in engine bay heat to the window? idk give me some ideas fellas! thanks

I just dont really need all that excess stuff in the cab and engine bay, all i need is an efficient way of defrosting my window. The cold is why they made jackets.

I agree! I pulled out my heater core last year, my speakers look much better in its place.
83 pickup, 4.88s, chevys in rear, RUF, Dual Transfers, flat belly, 3RZ swap, disc brake x4, rollin on 36" irocs

thats bad  man! got any specs on it? oh and if anyone know how to identify features from a vin number please tell me i want to find out exactly what model pickup i have.
