New gas still won't start
« on: Nov 28, 2004, 01:38:17 PM »
OK I drained the tank (there was a drain plug in the tank thanks bigmike) and put new gas in it pulled the output line from the fuel filter and let the pump run for a second or two to get all the old gas out of the line and filter still won't start. Has spark so it has to be a fuel problem. I used a sound scope on each injector as it was cranking and I can hear all 4 clicking and they all are with in 1.5 - 3.0 resistance so I think they should be working fine. I also checked for fuel presssure at the cold start injector and at the the fuel input on the fuel rail good fuel pressure. But what I did find is that I pulled the spark plugs out and cranked the motor over and put my finger up to eash hole and It was dry I could feel the air forced out but it was always dry no gas how is that possible?

So you've got fuel pressure.. and you've got spark..

is your timing off 180 degrees and its squirting in gas on the power stroke (closed valves) and the gas is puddling up in the intake manifold??

do you smell gas cause if it is doing what Bigmike is thinkin you should smell alot of gas. i would take the fuel rail out with the injectors and see if they squirt and if they don't let them sit in some injsector cleaner for a few days then they should be fine unless a needle is broke.

I don't smell any gas. and I have gone over the timing a few times. I turned the crank pully till the mark lined up with the zero them pulled the valve cover off and the cam sproket mark is pointed up at 12:00 and the rotor is pointing at number 1 on the distributor and rocker arms on No. 1 cylinder are loose and No. are tight. So every thing lines up so the timing should be wright, wright?

Yup, that sounds good.

How did you check for spark?

see if one of the lines are kinked. From  what I gather you aren't getting any fuel to the engine.
That's how I roll
