Anyone have any pictures of old 1st or 2nd gen trucks that are more than just a crawler

I'll try to find some pics of my high school truck,  it was an 82 2WD shortbed with all the Downey off road stuff, 4WD front fenders, and a cage that tied into the bed.  Pretty lame by todays standards but I was able to fit a 32X11.50 on it.

This was me about 15 years ago with my truck at the time

This is the beginnings of the race truck we still run today!

Here is what it is today!

thats cool i love the old white truck that is my truck that i am getting ideas for to a tee. the whole reason for this thread is for ideas on a prerunner or classic off road 4x4 look that has a 1980's nastalgia for off-road racing. like the rod hall dodge and the broncos when it was friends and a chest of beer from the shop going to a race, not the pit crew and trophy truck that was built for a cool mill. a truck that was built from parts from 1-tons not 14000 dollar rear ends and 2000 dollar bypass shocks.

Props on racing 7s... Dont know how you finish with leafs and stock push-pull steering.  Checked the stats though and im guessing that having plenty of shock up front helps alot huh?  Im curious, what typically breaks during a race, and what tricks (upgrades) can you pull and still stay within the rules?

It used to have push - pull , and it was a bear to steer, but we converted to low steer cross over (an old Aquilla arm as hi-steer did not fit). Breakage - not much really once the truck was set up. Just reinforce everything - twice.  :flamer: Springs used to be an issue until we went with Deavers ($$$ but well worth in in the long run). That and cycling everything to make sure it clears. The bypass shocks made a difference too.  Use the heaviest duty parts you can get - V6 diffs, V6 trans, etc. The drivetrain is all 100% Toyota too. Prep is critical- everything must be checked.  And drive it like you are the one that has to fix it :D

Looks like your girlfriend is really good at repair work, that's lucky!

As far as my research has gone the 1uz is way better in terms of internals than the 3uz (I almost had one). Just FYI. Find helps shoppers find products from more than 500,000 stores and online merchants all at once. I dont know how that front axel takes a beating.  A couple buddys and I went to hollister hills and my buddy started jumping his first gen.  I have never seen such a messed up axel.  he bent the housing into a W when you looked at the front and when you looked at the axel from the top it had a nice bow in it to.

ya its cool but it leaves that vintage look that blue coyote has and enters that flat-biller   :gay: look... I'm surprised there isn't  a monster sticker on it ....... oh wait there is a RockStar sticker right under the back window because energy drinks are so cool.... i haven't been to a score race, MDR, Best in the desert, SNORE, or any other race that i used to race in or just go spectate since 2005.. because i got sick of these queer zeros that think they are cool with there bimbo girlfriends with blond and black hair and no true knowledge of the sport... in the 80s and 90s these were family events that friends would work weeks and weeks to get a truck prepped to race and wives, kids heck grandmas used to go and watch the kids while the guys all stood around a fire and drank some beer talked about things with the team or truck..

that link truck is actually a old race truck brought back to life. I agree with the flat billers and bro Ho's, they drive me nuts. the SNORE race series looks like the way it used to be.

Coming back from San Diego we saw some COPS (or?) racing truck in an In-N-Out; I was gonna say HEY but saw they were flatbillers and saggy pants folks... so I just walked my dog the other way.

Can't stand that crap...

im building my truck for az terrain so some what fast for desert/dunes and slow for technical slower trails as well. its an 81 shortbed and so far it has 35's ruf and f 150's. 4inch up travel in the front with hysteer and 6 in the rear. 24 1/4 frame height. i have 2.0 remote res shocks all the way around, 12's up front and 10's out back (since they are tilted inward some i dont need as long of a shock, im trying to keep as much bed space as possible). it will being running 4.88's  lockright rear and dual cases eventually. plan is to have tube bumpers and sliders. the list goes on lol. im into all types of offroading and can only afford one rig so im building accordingly.

i love the look of the white first gen at the top.
