Hey guys just wondering what you guys have used in the past to clean up old grease covered axles, engines, ect.? What techniques have you found most useful?

Volcom

I just scrape the old grease & oil off with a putty knife or screwdriver and use brake cleaner.  If it's really bad, they end up in a solvent tank with a brush.

Volcom what do you soak them in? Thought about going to the car wash real early and using theyre pressure washer and just blast everything but grease would be flying everywhere!

Borrow a steam cleaner, or get together with a group of friends and split the rental cost as many ways as possible  ;)  You'll still want to scrape off the heavier stuff first, but with some purple power (or any good engine cleaner) the stuff will blow off.

I would suggest a high pressure wash THEN use the expensive chemicals...

I had an axle that was COVERED with grease and oil and a simple car wash worked wonders... I was 2-3" away though...

a simple wipe down with some simple green would clean it up very nicely.
