Shocks dampen better straight up and down

that is true, however doing it that way also limits articulation

it only limits articulation if you don't have the room to mount a long enough shock vertically.  which is the reason why people mount them angled.
however, the more you angle the shock the less efficient they become.
:yesnod:  I wish I could have mounted mine straight up and down but I did'nt have the room

Are you still using the Chevy steering box on your F Toy? I might run one on mine too.

I was thinking about removing my front crossmember as you did on page one on my 87 Runner and installing the MC spring hanger so I can do my SAS. Do you think I will have any problems with itas far as being a daily driver, and offroader more offroad than daily driven but.... well ya know gotta show it off.

I'll page John and see if I can get him to give you guys the full run down.

Thanks for the pic's Aaron. Well, I have had the pleasure of keeping the Marlin Crawler Formula Toy for the last year now and I'm proud to say that the guys at Marlin Crawler plan to allow me to keep it for another year. Team Marlin Crawler ran the W.E. Rock and the Pro Rock competition series last year as well as the King of the Hammers "Prerun". We took 2nd in the WE Rock series, First in the ProRock series and took 5th in KOH being the first 4cyl rig across the finish line.
I also took it to various wheeling events and weekend wheeling trips. The Marlin Crawler Formula Toy prooves every time I take it out to be a top contender in competition as well as trail wheeling. Over New Years, I took it out to the Hammers and ran all weekend along side of linked rigs and bigger horsepowered rigs. I had absolutely no problem keeping up, infact, there was never a time that I had more problems than anyone else. It is a VERY capable trail rig.

As far as changes, I haven't done much. The guys at MC did an excellent job of building it. I changed the front a little to increase the approch angle and to give it a more noticable look for photographs. I put ARB's front an rear to increase the manuverability in competitions. I added a trac bar to the rear suspension to minimise rear axle wrap. Other than that, it's still the same way as it was when I got it.

I just installed Marlins new Chrome Moly Birfields and plan to install Diamond Housings in the next couple of months. I am currently getting it ready for the King of the Hammers race next month and the WE Rock competition season that will be starting in March.

As far as the chassis goes. It is holding up really well. It's got some dings in it but nothing bad. competition is REALLY hard a rig. I try to sand down the scratches and paint the chassis after every event. I also try to replace the side panels every time they get damaged.

It's all about getting Marlin Crawler's name out there and meeting people. so if you see me at an event, please come over and introduce yourself.

Can you post some pictures and details of the new trac bar you added? Thanks.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Do you have a better picture of the top attachment to the chassis?

X2. That is a very cool setup. Nice fab work. Thanks for the photos.

No I don't have any better pictures of the front mount. It is just a shackle setup about 3" long that swings for and aft.
