The first of many. We have a case of spray paint at the shop, that should get us through the rest of the year!

Here are a couple more photos...

Were you driving it Chris?

Yes I was driving. My Dad was spotting and my Mom took the photos. It was a family weekend!

Here are more photos of the rig in action...

That reminds me, I still need to paint the roof.

Really cool.

Glad to finally see this thing in action. So how did it perform?

Any overheating problems? How about the steering and lets not forget about the electrical system, any problems there?

The new alternator we put in worked fine, and we had no electrical problems at all.

The new radiator worked perfectly. The temp stayed right at 200 all the time. After the event we drover it for about 30 minutes in the desert. The temp outside was 95 degrees but the motor ran at the same 200 degrees the whole time. So we are done with the over heating issues. The new radiator is a two row crossflow unit with 230 square inches of surface area.

When I rolled it we did notice a small oil leak from the dip stick, we are going to replace the dip stick with a factory new one to prevent it from leaking again. That was really the biggest issue I had with it.

The truck did a great job. I drove it easy this time, next time I plan to push it a little harder.

200 degrees is a little hot isn't it?  :headscratch:

That's normal for a factory 195 degree thermostat.

That is what mine runs at when running hard.

BigMike

Idling on a hot day would probably yield 210 degrees if not a bit more

Would there be any benefit to a lower temp t-stat?

BigMike

Cooler is always better, but warmer engines are more fuel efficient. From what I hear, Toy ECUs are programmed specifically for the 190-200 degree range, but since we have an aftermarket ECU, it would definately be a wise move. Maybe once this one dies in about 5 years we will make the switch

It won't make much of a difference, at least none that we would notice.

High quality steel Timeserts are installed into each intake and exhaust stud hole. These reduce striped threads when removing and reinstalling manifolds.

Chris or Marlin, need thread size and length of Timesert to repair  22R exhaust stud holes - thanks

So if you were to build a buggy like this for a customer (not saying I'm interested or that you guys are quite ready as a company, but I'm sure you could with a bit of luck and good managment) how much do you think it would set someone back?

I know that this is a very late question but what the advantage of mounting the rear shocks horizontal and not at an angle? Was it space limitations with the fuel cell or do the shocks work better straight up and down?
